Do you have anything that you consider lucky? Some object that brings you calmness and comfort?

Well, I do on this one.......I have a real phobia of doctors, dentists, anything medical. I only started going to the doctors like you should when I turned 40........and a penpal friend of mine sent me this bear. Since she couldn't go with me on my first doc appt for a physical, she sent this bear to go with me. And he does! Anytime I have anything medical to do, I put him in a grocery plastic bag and off he goes with me! (my docs probably wonder why I'm always carrying this plastic bag whenever I come in)
He's about 7 inches tall. He truly does bring me courage. All because one person cared enough about me to send it.
Plus I carry a pic of my dad in my pocket......before his death, he was always there to hold my hand when I was scared, and he's still helping me today........

Well, I can I consider my husband my object of comfort?? Whenever I need comfort I can just talk with Jason or have Jason hold me and everything is perfect!!

That is so sweet Susie!

I do have a good luck charm. Whenever I've had to go for a big test or interview, I wear my grandmother's opal ring on a gold chain around my neck (the ring is far too big to wear). I also carry a picture of her in my flight bag with me. She's been everywhere with me. From polar bear provincial park to sunny Florida.

Well, I wouldn't say I have anything physically that I'd consider lucky.... except my kitty. But I don't bring her anywhere with me....I do feel better just watching her though, she's so stinkin cute I can't take it sometimes, and just rubbing faces with her and giving her kisses makes me feel all gushy inside. I even like to watch her sleep.... she's just so content and happy, it makes me melt.

But as far as fears about the dr goes, I really only have a real problem when I see the obgyn. I have had major scary female problems in the past, and have so much anxiety about going I can barely breathe... so I take my hubby with me.... he can just give my hand a squeeze anytime it looks like I'm turning blue from lack of oxygen. Also, I get so worked up I don't ask any ?'s or anything, I just kinda freeze like a deer in headlights....so I prep him with anything I wanna know, and then he can ask the dr while I'm frozen in a state of panic.

I have this small frog figurian that my bf gave me, and it can be held in the hand. So when I have anxiety its in my hands being rubbed. It helps me to remember that people care for me and that their always there. I don't consider it lucky but I consider it comfort object.

I have a mercury dime on a chain that was my father's that always has a calming effect. I wear it when I've had a bad couple of days or I'm nervous about something and I tend to rub it between my fingers. Sometimes it just goes into my pocket.

It's special because my grandfather gave it to my dad when he was little to help with my dad's nosebleeds. There's an old wive's tale that says if you wear a mercury dime around your neck from the year you were born that it will stop your nosebleeds. Anyway, my dad grew up wearing this necklace and then later I found it in a drawer and he told me i could have it and wear it if I liked it.

I thought I lost it about a year ago and called my husband crying hysterically. It was at a time when my dad was in fairly bad health so the thought of losing it was somewhat traumatic. It means a lot to me.

Sorry so long. I tend to ramble on and on.
