I want to add...it's just like staying in a cabin in Gatlinburg...there is no way you can find a decent cabin for under 250-300 a night.....

If you stay there, make sure to show us some pictures after your trip!!

We can afford that price but me being practical I sez to myself-cheaper room I can buy nice wine, dinner or stuff and still have a good time. Its like getting roses for Valentines Day. I appreciate the gesture but for the same price I can buy several rose bushes that I can enjoy for a longer time than a couple of weeks!

Cedar Point is awesome, there is one rollercoaster where you think you're gonna get dumped right into Lake Erie, and then it turns.

Fran, it is never that hot here. (I figured it out, and that is over 118 degrees F) The hottest it has ever been in Ohio is 113, and that was in 1934. I'd say the average temp for Sandusky in the summer would be high 80's (low 30's for you) (it's right on the lake).

That place does look really nice! You should go.

Nuh uh...might give me away!
Aww, if you can afford it, let your hubby take you! As for Cedar Point, that's where Brandon proposed to me!!
We only rode two rides because it was August and brutally hot, but it was fun.

Susie, it's one night, right? No way would I spend that much on a room for an extended stay, where you'd spend more time away from the hotel than in it. But when the point of the exercise is to go somewhere and be pampered for a short while, it's a whole different ball of wax. If you can spare the $$$ and like the amenities provided, let the guy do the romantic thing.

I've come close to that. It was worth it. It was in Ocean City (MD) and we had a hot tub in our room and everything! Veeeerrrryyy nice! (DH had just come back from Iraq the first time he went there...he left when we'd only been married a few months.)

Well, he was at the firestation last night, so I'll talk to him about it tonight when he comes home........you are all right......one night at a nice place isn't too bad..........but we'll see.........I was thinking, how romantic, relaxing will it be with a bunch of kids running around, packed into the pool with us, etc........

I didn't think it was that much until I realised that this is US dollars we're talking about. It'd want to be the Ritz for that much!!

Everyone's pocketbook is not the same. And some people are just more conservative. Therefore I think you have to follow your heart on this one.
If it were me, I could find a good clean place to spend the night and not spend more than $100 for the motel. Not matter how "posh" it is, the room is not what makes an enjoyable time. We could afford what you are talking about, but the reason we could is because we have always lived frugally.
Whatever you do, I hope you have a wonderful, loving time with your husband.
