My birthday and our anniversary is coming up on August 5. (43 and 6 years)

My question is:
Jerry wants to go somewhere overnight...........and the place is $250 a night........would you be willing to pay that? I think it's outrageous!! I understand he wants to be romantic, and what woman doesn't want that, but gees.........I hate to spoil his fun.

It depends on where the hotel is and what type of hotel...I have paid 250 a night before...but it was at a resort on the beach.

Where is the hotel? and is it a first class hotel?

I think thats a little steep - for sure!
What kind of hotel is it?

John & I were going to stay @ the Wisconsin Dells sometime this summer with my family - and the hotel we were looking at was $380 a night!
Granted you got passes to their waterpark and amusement park, but still, I thought that was a little crazy.

No thanks

The only place I'd be willing to pay that kind of money is those ones where it is more like a b&b and they have a bunch of little cottages set up, privately. And it would have to be somewhere nice, and quiet.

For a hotel just like any other hotel, I won't pay more than 80$. I have stayed in rooms that were supposed to be that much, but you never ever pay list price for a hotel room. You can almost always get one for half of what the sticker on the back of the door says.

I think that's ok for a special occasion. It's pricy for an everyday holiday. Bear in mind that I don't usually stay in hotels though, so I don't have a good idea of what to pay. If we were on holiday somewhere, I'd be looking at $100 night.
I say enjoy your romantic getaway! The cats all went to London without you, so why can't you guys go somewhere special?

depends on the hotel and what that price includes....
if it's a 5 star place then 250 is ok especially for a special event.

Good way of putting it

If you have the money spend it!! My husband and I have always said that if we are able to pay the bills without a problem...then we spend our extra money!! So we go on a lot of trips and go out a lot...we figure that we will be having children within a couple of years which will take up a lot of money

As everyone else has said, it depends on where the place is, etc. Is it the busy tourist season also. That makes a huge difference in rates.

If it was for a long, extended vacation, I sure wouldn't pay it, but for one night, maybe.

I agree that it depends on the place. I have stayed in a place that was 150 a night and it was wonderful. I don't think I would pay more than 150 or so though unless it was a cottage or chalet. The 150 got us 3 huge ppols, kitchenette, golf course view, king size bed, living room.

Ok, here's my

How romantic is it that Jerry wants to take you somewhere really nice that costs $250 per night? And he picked it & planned it himself? I think that's wonderful... and as long as your not strapped for funds right now, let him spoil you....he must really want to.... and why put yourself on the back burner? Enjoy the luxery like the princess you were meant to be!!!

My husband is the type to say to me: "We should go somewhere, find a place, here's $300" and the rest is up to me. Otherwise we would never go anywhere.... he's not much of a planner.

For our 1st anniversary, we stayed at this hotel in King of Prussia Pa, they have these fantasy suites, there are 12 of them and they are all done in different themes.... the one we stayed in on our wedding night was called Cleopatra's Den...it was stunning. The bed was on the ground with sheer drapes that hung all around it, there was a hot tub, chilled champagne....it was decorated in all rich egyptian things.... that place was $250 per night. And I'd definately say it was worth it. Alot of times they do a sweethearts package with wine/champagne and chocolates or candles or something. Here is the link to the place we stayed at:

Oh, and have a great time!!!

Susie - that place is amazing - we drove by the one that they have in the Wisconsin Dells, and its MASSIVE! I'd definately go for it if you could, $250 doesn't sound that bad if its at a big place like that!
