Hi everyone! I have a 2-year-old black-and-white kitty named Oreo...She's adorable!

I just have a few general behavior questions that I could not find answers to in books/sites.

1.) Is it possible for you cat to wink at you as a sign of affection?
2.) When a cat is scared, when he/she scrunches up and fur gets bushy...What does it mean when he/she hops/walks around in a ziz-zag pattern (like a crab)?
3.) What does it mean when a cat is lightly waving/lapping her tail around at body height?
4.) Oreo always rolls over and lays on her back...Does this mean that she wants me to rub her stomach? When I do, she balls up and nips at me - so I am guessing no. She has also fallen asleep like this...Isn't that uncomfortable?

Any help would be appreciated!

A) hmmm i dont think so, they are just cleaning there eye same as us

2.) When a cat is scared, when he/she scrunches up and fur gets bushy...What does it mean when he/she hops/walks around in a ziz-zag pattern (like a crab)?

A) makes it harder for something to attack them, also they the zig zag when playing like when they chase around the laser light when i am playing with them, Also by turning sideways it makes look bigger which why they get all bushy

3.) What does it mean when a cat is lightly waving/lapping her tail around at body height
A) normaly if a cat is happy it will walk around with its tail stright up in the air, or maybe like a ? unhappy they tuck in between there legs, if they start moving really fast like whipping it around means they are getting upset normally, or in some cases getting ready to play, at least the one i have now does that.

4.) Oreo always rolls over and lays on her back...Does this mean that she wants me to rub her stomach? When I do, she balls up and nips at me - so I am guessing no. She has also fallen asleep like this...Isn't that uncomfortable
A) means oreo trust you enough to show her belly, and most cats i have seen dont like to have a stomach rub. and is inot a bad way to sleep if you are a cat

heeh i hope that helps but maybe someone with more information then will have different answers

When you do a direct stare on a cat, she will take this as a threat. You slowly blinking your eyes several times, lowers this threat. When your cat is winking at you, she is showing you that at that moment you are not a predator to her, but a friend

2.) When a cat is scared, when he/she scrunches up and fur gets bushy...What does it mean when he/she hops/walks around in a ziz-zag pattern (like a crab)?

It means your cat is really scared, and should you decide to pet her at that time, you could lose some blood for your trouble

3.) What does it mean when a cat is lightly waving/lapping her tail around at body height? It means that your cat is happy if the tip is lying forward toward her body. Unlike dogs, if a cat's tail is wagging back and forth low to the ground, she is becoming aggravated and you best leave her be. Furious lashing of the tail, can mean you are going to get slashed by her claws.

4.) Oreo always rolls over and lays on her back...Does this mean that she wants me to rub her stomach? When I do, she balls up and nips at me - so I am guessing no. She has also fallen asleep like this...Isn't that uncomfortable?

For some cats (kittens brought up understanding and accepting human touch, belly rubs are nirvana. For other cats, this belly roll is an invitation for battle. They are rolling over on their stomach, because first of all, they can see the enemy approach, they are NOT vulnerable (unless they are declawed on all four paws) because of their famous rabbit kicking ability.Their weapons are at the ready- claws, and teeth and when you touch their belly, their back legs roll up (the rabbit kick in motion) and you get nailed. Belly rubs on these types of cats is not appreciated.

Walk away from Oreo when she shows you she is upset. Only return to her when she starts either grooming or eating. Then it is safe, she isnt on alert mode and you two can start to bond again
