Dense dry skin around tip of tail.

My newest addition, Zorro, has only one problem. Around the tip of his tail, there seems to be clusters of dense, dry, dead skin. I combed some of it out and when I tried to comb the rest, he became slightly irritated. Does not seem to be anything serious, but I thought I would throw this on the forum for some possible answers and insights. Thanks

Take him to the vet to rule out any health problems--- if he is otherwise healthy, then talk to the vet about his diet, and possibly adding some fatty acids to improve his skin/coat
