They have all been eating dry food as a main staple. They still nurse, but infrequently. They are using the litterbox and are used to being away from mom several hours at a time. They all just recieved their first vaccinations today.

I have a few of them placed and the families are wanting to take their babies home early this coming week. (One family really wants to take one tonight). IMO, the kitties seem ready. I just don't want any problems with chewing and sucking for the families.

So, question #1 is would it be okay to place kittens between 6 and 7 weeks?

Also...When can I switch to clumping litter? I don't see them eating litter, but I'm not in the room with them all the time.

And...1 kitten (Elvis) is going to live here with Veruca and our 4 other cats. When should we start introducing him to the rest of the household?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

The difference between a 6-7 week old kitten and a 10 week old kitten is vast. Sending a 7 week old kitten off on his own is like sending a 3 y/o to kindergarten. Probably won't kill him, but he won't have the maturity to deal with it. Part of that apparent maturity in your babies is because they think Mom and siblings will always be there.

I would let the people know that for now, the kitten's needs have to take priority over their need to get the kitten. Tell them they need to wait until 9-10 weeks. Let them know many breeders don't let kittens go until 12 weeks.

Has everyone had vaccinations? I advise wait until 2 weeks after the first vaccinations before introducing the kittens to the rest of the fur family. That way they are protected from exposure to disease.

Everyone in the house has current vaccinations. I will start introducing Elvis to our family in a week or so.

The family who wanted to take a kitty last night is going on a 10 day vacation after all. By the time they get back their kitty will be 9 weeks old. They are taking the runt and they are my in laws so I will be this kitty's aunt and watch him grow!
