I think what you're talking about it an Abilation (sp). They burn the lining of your Uterus, so it helps with periods.
I tried the Provera hormones and BC pills after my Tubal to help get things back in order. No luck.
(My case is NOT always everyone elses luck.I just posted it, because we were asked what type of BC we use.)
I do not regre thaving my Hyster. It has made things so much easier.I can wear white ALL the time and not worry

For those of you getting the tubal, I HOPE I didn't scare you.It is NOT always what will happen, it's just what happened to me and my 2 Sisters. But, we have a genetic history of Women having Hysterectomys before they are 35.I was 35, my Sister was 33 and my baby Sister was only 29 when they had theirs........after tubals.

Again, I'm sorry if I scared anyone!!!!!

My freshman roommate's mom had an IUD in when she got pregnant with her. I've just heard so many horror stories about it, and they look like torture devices. It just seems so weird to stick a piece of copper in your uterus. But yes, they have gotten better.

Whatever you decide, do your research and hopefully you trust your gyno. I've looked into the ring also, because it uses a much lower does of hormone. The patch is not for me, I have sensitive skin plus I have heard they have higher risks than other kinds.

As for non-hormonal ones, you're pretty much limited to rubbers, IUD, etc. Honestly hormone types of BC are much better at preventing pregnancy.

There is one thing you could consider though. They have a mini-pill which is just one of the two hormones usually found in the pill-- forget which (progestin or estrogen?) and it works a little bit less well but doesn't put so much strain on your body. Many women use this between children, since it isn't such a disaster if they have an oops! but if you'll use condoms then it could be a good back-up.

I have been on Triphasil-28 off and on since I was 18. Yes I have two kids, no I wasn't taking the pill when I got pregnant.
I love it. I had to go on the mini-pill after #2 was born because I was nursing and never felt comfortable that it worked as well, so switched back to Triphasil when she was 4 months old. This is the last month for my birth control as DH had a vasectomy and we've been given the "all clear." I'm tempted to stay on the pill because my periods only last 4 days (as opposed to 7 without the pill) and are much lighter.

Yup, that's it, thank you.

Don't worry, it was clear that you were writing about your personal experience, which is really all that any of us have.

Have you though about getting an ablation? Since you are not at risk of pregnacy, it might be a good option for you.

I know about the one that is like 5 matchsticks under the arm - I know one woman with it and she swears by it.

You mean like Norplant? Hmm... I would research that very very carefully and weigh the risks against the advantages. There is also Depo-provera, a shot that lasts three months.

Good luck!! Every woman has her own choice to make of course, and I hope you can find something you like.

I actually dont know what happened?

My aunty told me 2 years ago that my mother had cancer, and they took the neck of her womb out about a year before she got pregnant, after i was born, my dad told the doctor he didnt want any more kids, so my mum said yes to these "injections" and then she couldnt get pregnant anymore.
But by the time she stopped taking the injections she was 38, 39.

she had me at 35

I use the ring. I always forget to take the pill and I only have to remember the ring once a month.

Movin' on up!
27 years ago, I got pregnant, with an IUD and miscarried. By the time that I knew that I was pregnant, I really WASN'T any longer. One month later, I had my tubes tied and never regretted it.

My post-tubal experience was fine - my periods were always heavy and crampy. Eleven years later, I had a hysterectomy and have been VERY pleased with that.

Fwan, the condoms are still a good idea - birth control won't protect you from AIDS or other STDs. When I started dating again, I bought condoms, even though birth control isn't an issue. Unless a guy can provide proof of being HIV negative, use the condoms.

I'm guessing the chances of infertility are much lower now.

Under a stack of blueberry waffles.
I use a combination of ortho tricyclen and condoms. I have a very irregular, and sometimes cripplingly painful period (and don't want children). The pill helps with the pain and irregularity. I don't want to be on hormonal birth control forever, so I'd like an ablation or hysterectomy but at 22 with no children, I'm totally out of luck on that one and will be for a long time unless my reproductive health starts getting worse (as the prerequisite here is that you be 25 and already have two chilren).
