Well this is a new one for me..

When I went to pick up PeeWee yesterday after his neuter they said I didn't need to bring him back because there were no stitches. So I said "Oh, they used glue then?" which is the only other way, besides staples, that I know of. She said "No, they just, like, tie them off"

Ok, not to sound stupid, but tie what off exactly? And does this in any way lengthen healing time or create any additional problems... like if he gets too rambunctious or something? I've just never heard of this. And of course they told me to keep him quiet for a few days. Right... have you ever tried to keep a 2.5 month old kitten quiet?

My male cats have never had stitches when neutered. I think they just tie the blood vessels and remove the testicles. No stitches are needed.

They told me to try and stop Mosi from jumping around too much (yeh right!) but I failed miserably at that and he healed just fine. Acted like nothing had happened. He certainly wasn't in pain. A male neuter is a very simple procedure.

That's been my experience, too.

I've seen kittens wet themselves while still groggy from the anesthesia, but once they're awake they don't. Male kittens really don't seem to have much pain from the surgery, which is only a matter of five or ten minutes.
