Hi all,

New to the forum after the arrival of Mylos 3 kittens, i have found it a great tool, thanks.

My kittens are almost 3 weeks old and have been doing great,
I have noticed one of the kittens is a lot smaller and feels skinny the other two are very well fed looking.
This has only occurred over the past few days.

I have been watching them feeding and it seems two kittens are feeding off the one nipple?? Can this happen?
The strongest one obviously is getting more milk.

I have started to feed the little one with formula milk though Mylo goes mad when i take it away

Help!
Thanks Philippa

Hey Philippa...welcome to the Cat Site....I do hope that Mylo is remaining strictly indoors with her kittens so that she can be fixed once the kittens are weaned (very important).

It is not unusual for kittens to "prefer" a nipple...typically one towards the front of mom. I don't believe that the nipples dry up....but the stronger ones tend to get the best pick of the nipples. It is good you are supplementing the littlest one with formula milk...just make sure you are feeding it in a prone position....all feet on the floor...so that the milk does not go into the lungs.

Mylo has been going outside for toileting. She goes out then generally has little wander but never goes more than 10-15 mins.

Can she get pregnant again so soon?

Yes..as early as 48 hours after giving birth. I would set her up with a litterbox and keep her indoors only until her kittens are weaned and she can be safely spayed. I would not recommend risking a second pregnancy.
