The Edison bill, Oh granted we have used the air but not to the tune of $430.00, last month it was only $125.00, I almost died, I never have that thing lower then 78 and ususally its like 80, I turn it off at night. It was like 110 today here,,,Going to have to cut down on that. They just raised rates last year and there was a notice saying they were going to raise them again . Is southern California the only palce that's this bad or is it all over...Had to rant about about it

You should not turn it off at night ... that alone can increase your bill by up to 30% since you then have your unit working double time during the day to cool the house .. turn it up at night like a little over 80 or better yet keep it at the same temp day and night... Do they have a budget plan??

Oh I'm sure they have a budget plan
My sis-in-law pays the same amout every month then at the end of the year if she owes more she pays, and if she over payed she gets a credit, But I better not complain her bill was over $600, we have pretty good size homes but she has a pool, single story, mine is 2 story I think they use more myself. I told my hubby it must be leaking electricity
Its so rediclous, I about fainted I figured beings that it has been really hot maybe it would be $250 that would still be to much,,I don't really turn it off at night I do turn it up to about 80 or so, but today at 110 man it's been awlful, and tomorrow is supposed to be worse. I think alot of people here are going to get shell shock. tonight it's still in the high 80s at 11pm

WOW!!!!! We got our electic bill yesterday and we don't have air conditioning and the bill was $92!!! That is super high for a summer. We have a dehumidifier in the basements that runs on a cycle and had several fans running to I think that was our increade. Nothing like yours though!!

Well, take your pick. Either the electric bill or the heat will kill you. Now I am dreading what ours will look like.

We are on a budget plan with our power company-where they spread the payments over a year's usage-The last bill went up slightly-the one that just came in went up $80 dollars
-our company was taken over 2 yrs. ago by a foreign one (to be nameless) & service has gone down hill along with major outages all year long for no reasons-Have thought about putting in a wind turbine as some folks here have to avoid the company-

It can't just be where you are. Mine was $ 425.00. I got it yesterday! Our A/C is broke it needs freeon. Which I found out is $210.00! But it just isn't that bill that gets me. EVERYTHING is going up way high!

Movin' on up!
I don't feel so badly, about my $147.00 electric bill now. We set a record yesterday, at 110 and today is supposed to be around 107.

While I'm at work, I leave the thermostat at 85 and 80 is comfortable, when I'm home. There are fans in my living room, bedroom and on my desk.

You know, if you make your own (wind turbine, solar panels, what have you) the electric company has to pay you! Some of my neighbors back home had it, they had a special roof that was all solar panels. They made money on their electric. Pays for itself after awhile. New super-insulated windows help alot too, and having the attic reinsulated.... When I finally get a house, it'll be like that. Super-efficient and it's own power source.

My electric bill is also ridiculous. It's been over 100$ just for 600 sqft.
Thank goodness that the landlords paid the gas bill!

Wow! I have my ac on ALL the time at 68. Well, i do turn it off at night around 11 and turn it back on at 6 in the morning. The bill did not go over $200. I am also in CA, inland. So, they could be reading your neighbors meters...or it is leaking electricity..
