Hi. So, my newly rescued Cat is about to give birth anyday now. We made a great den for her out of a big box, with newspaper shredded filled pillows, food inside, etc.....and she won't even go in it. We have a little cat door cut out and a few window cut outs on the box to give her a sense of privacy, but also some air in there (its very hot here). Any suggestions? Should I play with her in there and lull her in with cat nip? Thanks

I'm not an expert but I think the closer the time comes the more she will be interested in it. All we can do is set the birthing box up, but it is still up to her to decide where she wants to go. Just make sure that all the dangerous places for her to have her babies are blocked of (ie under beds, under couches) Otherwise, show her where it is and make sure it is in a comfortable, quiet, and safe area and she will do the rest.
My baby has been in her box a few times and we just show her where it is. She is due any day now as well and she pretty much appears to have NO interest in the box either.

Mine goes in her big box to eat ( i put a small dish of dry food in there) but otherwise doesn't care about it...
I thought maybe it was happening today...when I went to the store she was laying on her side under my daughter's bed (it is a high bed) and when I came back she was still there and I saw a small black thing near her...it was a little stuufed mouse!

She had better get this over with before I have an ulcer!
