In the past week, our cat Boo has decided to urinate in our toilet. We're not assuming he did - we've seen this. We did not use any training techniques - he just started doing it. He still poops in his box tho.

We would love for him to go "totally toilet", but I'm not sure how to encourage this behavior (we've been trying praise and treats when he uses the toilet). I'm afraid to remove the box or do anything that would confuse/discourage him.

This is pretty wild considering when we adopted him 6 mos. ago, he didn't even know what a litter box was!

Any suggestions on how to get him to move completely to toilet? - we're only halfway there.

Thanks,
Kim

I've heard of kits that you use to toilet train. Some apparatus that sits on the toilet and I think you put a small amount of litter in. Then you eliminate the thing as they learn to use the toilet.

Here's a link I found.

If it works, let me know. I'd love to get rid of the box!

Lucky you
!

But you're right to be cautious about this. You don't want to confuse him into house soiling. We've had members who tried training their cat to use the toilet. Seems like some cats get it while others just don't...
