Misty died today at the age of 14 from a brain lesion. The new and final vet made the diagnosis, and in some ways it's a relief to know, finally, what was wrong. The other vets should have been able to detect it, but they would have rather had me pay for more tests, I suppose. This Vet saw the problem right away and was a great comfort to me. He assured me that Misty was not in any pain, only confused. He would probably not survive brain surgery, the area affected was the frontal lobe and even if he did survive, he would not be the same Misty and his quality of life would have deteriorated. I just couldn't do that to him. I couldn't justify prolonging his life if he couldn't be himself or be happy. So I gave the Vet the OK and held him tenderly as he quietly passed from this world.
