hmmm, that's strange... can't really tell you why he'd do this, but maybe if you stick a bowl with some dry kibble in it inside the tub when it's not in use, it will deter this bahavior.... ya know "you don't poo where you eat".... also try cleaning out your tub with enzyme cleaner so it no longer smells like a kitty potty to him

I would strongly suggest that you don't do anything to deter him - there may well be a good reason (at least to him) not to use the litter tray.

If so, he won't use it just because you discourge him from using the tub, he'll just find somewhere else to go.

One of ours sometimes does this (and his mother did it I think only once in our time with her). Frankly, we'd rather they had the tub as an 'in case' than anywhere else.

Also, I think a trip to the vet may be indicated - it is something cats sometimes do when they associate discomfort with their littertrays.

Chynna did that once, but I think it was because her litter box was in need of changing. I scoop it a few times a day but I only give it a total clean out and disinfecting every 2 weeks and by that time the litter is quite low. She's one that likes a near full box and when it gets too low she puts her foot down and refuses to use it.

I was thankful that she did it in the tub rather than on my carpet or furniture because tubs are super easy to clean.

I had one of my cats do that one time. She only peed though. I have more than one cat and didn't know who was doing it. Every night for about a week or so i would go to take a shower and there it would be. Finally I caught the culprit coming out of the tub and when I opened the curtain to clean it there it was only this time there was blood in it. She had a UTI and after she was treated for it she never did it again. Guess this was her way of letting me know she was sick. Your kitty may be fine but if this is uncommon behavior for her it may be worth getting her checked out by your vet.

Yay!!!
Sounds like he's like my kitty and likes lots and lots of litter to dig around in.

Take him to the vet, when cats pee on smooth surfaces, it is generally health related.
