We are debating whether to take Wiggles (about 5 months old) with us when we go away for a 4-day weekend this Fourth of July. (We have that option since it's a private apartment.) He's very sociable - always likes to be in the same room as we are - and I hate to think how lonely he'll get with only our neighbor coming in once a day to feed him and change the litter box - but I'm wondering if it will be even more traumatic to take him to a strange place (it's about an hour's drive each way) - only to bring him back a few days later when he's just beginning to get used to the new layout. Any thoughts?
Thanks!

How long have you had him? Normally, cats do not like change, but you also have to factor in the fireworks which are going to scare him big time if any are set off near where you live. I think in that respect, I would take him with you as he may need to have you close to him to comfort him. If you are leaving for a fireworks display, shut him up in small room that is cool if it is hot like a bathroom. Otherwise when you get home, he may be hiding and so scared you might not find him for awhile.
