If I purchase Stoli a really tall cat tree, do you think he'll stop trying to get on top of everything else? he's already fallen off the refridgerator and now he's trying to climb on a cabinet full of glass. . . . .

ENGLAND... LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY!
Not necessarily. My two have shelves in their room from floor to ceiling but they still climb on top of my freezer etc...

My advice is if theres anything of value or it's something sentimental put it where the cat can't get to it.

I think that'd be great stuff for your cat. My cat likes to get up on my Zoids collection cabinet, good thing she doesn't bite or scratch my collection. I myself want to get my cat a tree or something, it's just that our house is small to accomodate one.

Cats are like little kids...curious as can be and have to see and touch absolutely everything. When they're kittens you need to kitten proof your house. It's similar to child proofing it. Basically you lock up anything you don't want to get broken

Only if the cat tree is taller than the refrigerator and everything else in the house! They like to be as high as they can be, it's instinct. They feel safer when they are high enough to anticipate any approaching predators.

Stoli might take to the cat tree just fine but be prepared for him to snub it and return to higher altitudes. Especially if you're living in a small space or have other pets. It will take some time to get through to him that certain places are not for perching, like the glass cabinet. Make it as inaccessable as you can, no furniture next to it that he can use as a starting point on his climb, keep the top covered with different sized objects he has to think about navigating around (if he has to think too much about it he'll probably lose interest).
Good luck!

well, My husband and I are going to attach the cabinet to the wall but I just wish I could have Stoli get his desire to be up high redirected to a tree and not cabinets. . . . . .

that's what I was thinking. I have room and if I could just get something that is taller than anything else and I could actually praise him for climbing I hope it would work.

I used to have a cat that used to jump from floor to the top of open doors and perch herself there. Then she would cry when she wanted to come down. Silly cat could get up there but was afraid to jump down, lol

Well, Stoli never ceases to amaze me, he breaks all boundaries that I thought russian blues were like. . .

he meows just to hear himself talk,

but i did know that they (as most cats do) want to be up high. i just thought that after a month and a half I had found all the places he wanted to climb. NOT SO!
