What ever vets told you that OTC flea meds from teh pet store should not be allowed to be vets. They have KILLED CATS. This happens everyday. Do not use meds from the pet store.

Oh and she needs to be spayed and vaccinated before being kept outdoors.

She's WAY to young for any of this stuff she's reaching 6 weeks. She can not be treated with "ANY" flea med she has to be 12+ wks. She's had a dish soap bath and all that she still had the flea's vet said not to keep bathing her.

I've used Frontline and such from pet stores and never had problems along with wormer from pet stores and never had any problems. She is outside because 1. Yes she has flea's and 2. We decided she will be a outside only cat.

She is also to young to be spayed, she's fine outside and she just cries when she's in the house and Troy has to get up early for work and he hears her in the room way down the hall. She's fine and she enjoys being outside, she's got alot of good hiding places. I've had cats outside before and they did fine.

I don't need to be grilled just because i have a "barn" cat which stays outside she still gets vet attention and everything else she's just to young at the moment. I'll coutine her to bathe her as much as i can but being a cat and small i can't bathe her 3 times a day to get rid of flea's. Nor can i put other animals in my house if i have a kitten with flea's. I have to scrub just about everything now because she had flea's.

I don't have a problem with barn cats but she is way too young to be outside on her own. And if you buy Frontline from the pet store that's not what I was talking about. I am talking about the Hartz and the off brands of generic flea medication.

I didn't realize she was quite so young, I forgot, but she is definately too young to just be on her own outdoors. She can be spayed at 2 lbs which could be as young as 6-8 weeks. So she COULD be old enough. I dont know about her weight though. It is one thing to make her a barn cat but not when she is so young and alone. How are you guarenteed that she will stick around and not fall victim to various prey lurking outdoors? There is no one to watch after her when she is alone outside.

Plus being too young to vaccinate according to you, then she is at major risk to pick up any number of diseases. I am not trying to sound like a jerk or to lecture (even though that is basically what I am doing
but I just find it too risky to let such a young, unvaccinated kitten outside on her own to fend for herself.

Because i had another cat outside around her age and she lived outside for years thats how i know. She doesn't live outside alone i have outside cats in my barn, another thing she stays in our wood stack where nothing can get at her.

I've been watching her and she's fine, i'm going to check her weight tommorrow morning. If you act this way towards every player with a kitten outside you might run into issues for future refs.

If you don't know the situtation it would be better to lay low before you just start attacking people on everything when this isn't my first kitten, or abandoned kitten or anything else if i thought there would be problems i wouldn't of put her outside.

I am not attacking anyone, I know the story from what you told us. She is a stray that you brought in to care for and look after just a few days ago. From the picture you posted she looked ill perhaps, maybe just something minor. Then you said that you are putting her back outside because she has fleas. You never mentioned treating her for them, just putting a possibly ill, unvaccinated kitten outside at such a young age because she has fleas just makes no sense. If she lived out there in the first place and you have other kittens her age fine, but at least get her well and vaccinated so she doesn't get the other cats in the barn sick and her fragile young body doesn't pick up any illnesses. That is all I am saying.

You don't see the problem with having a cat in the house with flea's? Do you understand what a flea is or how "HARD" it is to get them out of your house and keep them gone. Hard i've had alot of foster cats with flea's..

She's not ill she has flea's and they won't spread in my house and get every where and breed in my carpet. She will be spayed and everything when she is older and i can get her into the clinic.

I know how annoying fleas are. My stray I found 2 weeks ago Willoughby was covered in them. I put him in the bathroom, bathed him in Dawn and sat and combed every flea out of him and then treated him with Advantage. Then a couple days later I let him out of the bathroom and have not seen a flea since. They are not that difficult to get rid of. They are not in your carpet yet, just on the cat. So get them off and treat her and she will be fine and there wil be no fleas in your house.

Ok i will quote every time i said she can't be treated for flea's at 6 wks
and i've already bathed her in dish soap and sat there forever trying to get every single dot off her and the next day she still had them. Because i can't treat her for 6 more wks and by then i'll need to put smoke bombs and such because my house is infested with fleas not to mention my other animals that i have and soon to have.

I understand your concern but right now you really could drop the issue she is fine. She has places to hide (shelter) other friends outside, her long lost mom some where browsing, and she is eating fine.

Hey I tried to send you a PM to say sorry if I seemed rude or accusing etc...sorry bout that. I was just concerned with the kitty. It is hard when they just show up out of no where isn't it? When I think of barns for cats I think of my uncles nasty dirty smelly barn full of crap and cats that just breed and breed (I am working on that) not all barns are that bad. I can't wait to have a barn someday to rescue strays and ferals etc... Sounds like you are doing the best you can.

oh whereabouts is Clyde? Don't think I ever heard of it. Anywhere near Kent?

Aww that is so sweet
Must be cute to see, do you have any pictures of that??

I think you may have checked something to block them from coming in. Go to user CP in the top left of the page. Then click on edit options under Settings & Options. Then scroll down and check the box about enabling private messages. There are other options there you might want to check too.

Nope and unless i put her on her back she only does it in the winter time because horses get very warm from there extra thick layers of fur and there fluffy which makes them soft and in there case it feels like a moving cat bed lol.

I've never had problems with my miniatures hurting the cats they just keep to themselves being pray animals nature instint would say dart and such but my mini's never hurt my cats hehe.

Yea i think i did lol i'll go do that i was like "Why is it blocking me" blonde moments..
