Hi there!
I was searching for cat care and came across this site which looks like a great one for help/advice. So here goes.........I have a momma cat who had 9 little babies under my bush last Tuesday (my daughter found them). I wasn't really sure what to do with them because I have 3 indoor cats which do not get along any other cat. I have a basement so I put momma and kids there and keep my other cats upstairs which seems to be working out so far. All kittens seem to be doing very well and I may be able to find homes for most of them. I have gained moms trust but I don't think anyone owns her because when I first fed her, she ate like she had never eaten in her life. Besides if she were owned by anyone, why would they let her outside if she was pregnant right? But my ?'s are: What to do about fleas? Do they need any type of vet care? I'm on a limited budget right now so any advice there would help lol. I can't keep any of them (I wish I could because they are all so cute!) because I rent and I already have one to many shhhh...don't tell. I was planning on getting the mom spayed thru a local rescue that gives out vouchers for a free spay. I was going to put her back outside after that and I know it's not the best thing to do but most of the rescues around here are always full so I don't know what to do about that. And I don't want to take her to the pound where she most likely will not be adopted. So if anyone can tell me what I can do, it would really be appreicated. I'm going to do the best I can so they have a chance. Thanks!

for the fleas, a bath with dawn soap would do wonders, works as well as a flea dip without the chemicals to harm the babies. wash as you normally would with shampoo, but let the suds sit on her for a few minutes, then rinse and repeat till you see no more fleas.

GREAT idea on getting her spayed!!! you should be able to get the kids spayed too under the same program. Spaying her and then putting her back outside isnt the cruelest thing either, least you can still feed her and keep track of her if she sticks around. you might want to call friends or family members to see who can take the babies once their old enough. Good Luck with everything and let us know what happens!!

Welcome Cincycat....it's great that you took in this mom and kittens.

Make sure any flea products/shampoos you use are safe for using on kittens. Also...buy a flea comb to remove the dead fleas and flea dirt.

If you can get mom spayed and return her back outdoors...just make sure to provide her with a nice outdoors shelter and continue to feed her.

As far as the kittens go...spaying them at the same time would be ideal (kittens can be spayed as young as 8 weeks of age). You can also find ways to place ads for placing them here:
