Tigger has broken hip

Well, my husband got up early this a.m. and let the cats into their enclosure. Tig came back inside shortly therafter and collapsed -- so we got the vet out of bed at 5 a.m. Turns out he broke his hip. We can only guess that he was climbing and his foot got caught and he fell. They are going to remove part of the bone and the muscles will eventually hold the leg in place. Have checked the web and this seems to be standard practice. Please send good vibes for his surgery (probably tomorrow). Also, anyone has any experience with recovery? How do we keep him quiet, and for how long?
