I'm getting married on the 29th, and I'd like to offer a "spa day" as a gift to my soon-to-be sister-in-law as a thank you gift for all the hard work and help she put in in helping us plan the wedding. I've never been to a spa, so I don't really know how to select one. Ideally, I'd like to find one not too far away from home.

Are there any "clues" I should be looking for? Anyone who lives in the downtown Toronto (Ontario) area, any recommendations?

Thanks!

Ooo...most spas offer packages (manicure, pedicure, facial & massage) in all sorts of range of times and prices.

I personally recommend the "Hot Stone" Massage. This is SOOOO relaxing as they rub your body with warm stones for 30 minutes to help relax them.

Also I highly recommend a facial too. A good one will be 30 minutes long, leaving your SIL feeling refreshed.

I don't know of any in the Toronto area, but I'm sure there's some place like Citysearch.com (maybe citysearch.ca?) that lists and rates all sorts of places like this.

What a thoughtful idea. I can ask my friend (she lives around Danforth and Greenwood) for a good spa since she is really into that sort of thing. If Mississauga isn't too far there is a fantastic spa at Winston Churchill and Dundas called the Silver Blue Butterfly. You can pre-order lunch and go the whole 9 yards.

I'm not from TO, but it just so happens DH and I are taking a long weekend there soon and so I have been doing research on the city. Supposedly the spa in the Park Hyatt hotel is the best spa in North America--I don't know how (or by whom) that is judged, but it might be worth looking into. Might be a bit pricey for a whole day, but perhaps you can get a gift certificate for something like a massage.

Also, I don't know if they have Red Door spas in your neck of the woods, but they have gift certificates for full days and half days (my MIL gave me one a couple years ago for my b-day).
