Yesterday my AC unit quit and it got to be 95 and I live on the second floor. Well, I thought it was going to be too hot for my baby in the there so I took her to my parents house where there was AC. Now she's lived there in the past, but she really hates the dog. I had to leave her there overnight w/out her mommy or daddy. My husband stopped by this morning to make sure she still had food, but we won't be able to bring her home until tonight when the AC is fixed. He said she wouldn't stop crying the entire time he was there (abotu 20 mins.). She is completely stressed out as is the dog. So my question is, did i do the right thing for her or did I just completely stress her out for no reason?

Both options probably would have stressed kitty out. It probably doesn't matter either way. And it's only for a day or so.

I think you did what I would have done. It would have been too hot for the cat in your apartment (I'm suprised you didn't go stay with your parents) She can always run away from the dog, and once you get her home she will quickly forget about the whole thing.

I didn't stay with my parents because first off, their spare bedroom is the dogs room, and second, I worked until 1am and to be at my other job at 8am and every minute counts as far as sleep goes, and no matter where I sleep at my parents, my mother's snoring will always wake me up.

You probably did just fine but at my apartment, my bedroom is the only room that has AC. The rest of the house is a roasting 90-95 degrees. I have no dea why it gets so hot but it is gross. Anyways, guess where my cats like to hang out? In the hallway where it is the hotest (in the lingering dead air between the AC room and the room with a window opened). Sometimes they will sleep on the cooler tiled floor in the kitchen or on the washing machine. But usually just in the middle of the hallway.

I think I would have done the same thing. At least you knew your baby was safe. A little stress is better than over heating. I'm in a 2nd floor appartment & it's gets very hot. Most of mine don't mind the heat, except the very hairy Isaac. He will sit right in front of the cold air coming out from the air conditioner, he also loves to sit right in front of fans. He looks like a little grey lion with his hair blowing in the wind. Got a little off track there.
Sorry about that.

I think you cat will get over the stress of the dog. Heat is more dangerous. I agree, you did the right thing.

You absolutely did the right thing. It's better that your cat be a little stressed out than risk the possibility of heat related illness. I would have done the same thing. If you don't know how sensitive your cat might be to the heat, it is certainly better to be safe than sorry.
