I'm convinced this is probably the best commercial pet food on the market. They cook the food with less heat. There are no by-products, corn, garlic, soy, corn gluten, wheat. They use some organ meat, liver, eggs which are full of vitamins, chicken. Rice is the only carbohydrate source. The food delivered to your door is no more than 8 weeks old. They say that pet food in stores and supermarket shelves can be 6 months to a year old. I watched the video presentation on this food and I was impressed. I'm thinking about getting it as soon as I use up the bag of Iams multi-cat. But I'm afraid that if I start my cats on this food they're going to gain weight. This kind of food is likely very high in calories. My cats are indoors only in a small condominium. My vet will surely be dissappointed if my cats gain weight. I don't know why they have to make these highly wholesome foods 500 or more calories per cup.

For canned food I might still buy Iams since the new pate Iams has no by-products in it, unless they like the canned food on this site.

Opinions and advice please. I'm convinced now that Iams multi-cat dry food may not be the best I can feed them. Nutro I don't like because I feel the animal protein content is too low, the reason I chose Iams over Nutro. I don't like to see meat combined with corn gluten to make up protein. I want ALL the protein in the food coming from meat.

It is good but if you truely want meat go Evo ... I would find the dry you like ( personally due to vitamin issues I only like organs in wet or Raw / homemade not in a dry ... and supplement with canned or raw / homemade.. IT IS Way Better than Iams
.. Iam s meat is low and is also combined with strait corn...

I can't feed a food that has almost 600 calories per cup. Spotty is already almost 16 pounds and he's not supposed to weigh that much. Plus, the traveling by bus is not convenient for me to get Evo.

Iams multi-cat has corn grits, whole grain sorghum and rice. 35% animal based protein but the first ingredient is chicken by-product meal and the second ingredient is chicken(not meal, just chicken).

I liked that Iams multi-cat only has about 360 calories per cup and high in animal based protein. Unfortunatley the better quality ones high in protein are rich and fattening. It's frustrating weighing out the pros and cons.

It looks like this one might be a really good deal. All the protein is animal based, the fat content is generous and the calorie content is just right for my indoor kitties. I can order it on line for only $9.59 for a 6 pound bag plus shipping fee and I can compromise on the canned food since the new Iams pate style canned food doesn't have any by-products and is conveniently available at Petco along with Natural Balance(which only one of my cats like) and Pet Gold(Rosie's favorite). Canned food always costs too much in shipping fees.

It's not perfect. But for a dry cat food at an affordable price with all protein coming from quality animal sources and not too many calories it doesn't get any better. No garlic and it even has duck in it (yummy!)

Ingredients
Chicken, Salmon, chicken meal, whole grain brown rice, chicken fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols), oatmeal, whole grain white rice, potatoes, cracked pearled barley, millet, turkey, duck, flaxseed, egg product, natural chicken flavor, carrots, peas, apples, dried skim milk, kelp, cranberry powder, rosemary extract, parsley flake, salt, choline chloride, dried chicory root, methionine, potassium chloride, taurine, zinc sulfate, vitamin E supplement, niacin, manganese sulfate, copper sulfate, thiamine mononitrate, vitamin A supplement, biotin, potassium iodide, calcium pantothenate, riboflavin, pyridoxine hydrochloride (vitamin B6), vitamin B12 supplement, manganous oxide, sodium selenite, vitamin D supplement, folic acid.

Guaranteed Analysis
Crude Protein 30% minimum
Crude Fat 20% minimum
Crude Fiber 3% maximum
Moisture 10% maximum
Magnesium 0.1% maximum
Taurine 0.1% minimum
Omega-6 Fatty Acids* 3.4% minimum
Omega-3 Fatty Acids* 0.6% minimum
*Not recognized as an essential nutrient by the AAFCO Cat Food Nutrient Profile.

Calorie Content 3,922 kcals/kg (367 kcals/cup) Metabolizable Energy

I'll wait until my 8 pound bag of Iams is used up and then I'll buy it.

Chicken soup I assume??? didnt read the link ...
it is good hopefully it will do well ... my ferals will eat it ...
since your going from corn and chn with fish to a four meat sevan grain ensure a 10 day transition

the protein since chn and salmon are 66% water is coming from chn meal ( great
) and brown rice ... you could tally that to a food with one or two meat and one or two grains and see the difference ... But it is a great food for the price

Life's Abundance has only one grain and that's brown rice but I couldn't get the calorie content on the website so I e-mailed the company and am waiting for a response. They also have an interesting canned food on their website. Risky to order because I don't know if my cats will like it or not. Well, I have at least a couple of months to find a dry food to switch my cats to because it takes me at least that long to go through an 8 pound bag of dry food with all the wet food I feed. It's going to be something a company will ship to my door because it's not convenient for me to travel by bus on the weekends for a better food.

the Life abudence looks good three meat( chn turkey and catfish) to two grain( rice and flax)... I have reason s for not using it but when compared to Iams it wins
down... the canned is something I need to look into further..
