Momma isn't ready quite yet for the babies to be out running around, but clearly the babies have other ideas! You can certainly try a box with taller sides, but an extra-large dog crate is better. That way, you can confine Momma and babies for their own safety and when Momma wants to come out for a stretch and some away-time, the babies are safe from being moved to a not-so-good location. The box will eventually not contain the kittens and believe me, there are going to be times coming up when you will both need and want to contain them.

You have some very cute babies there.

Boo brought her babies downstairs around 2 weeks old and put them in a corner of the living room. They are now 3.5 weeks old and are starting to venture out a little and explore their surroundings. I did try moving them back to the box but that really stressed Boo out so in the end I just let her be.

They are becoming very social little kitties and will come over to you for a fuss. They will also meow at me if I walk past and ignore them.

I have been letting them wonder but to be honest they dont go far and then just (attempt) to run back to bed.
