Hey guys,

Just wondering what you would recommend putting under the litterbox as a mat type thing to minimize tracking. I don't want to have to sweep 4 times a day.

My beasts actually prefer the big natural box outside, but they do use the litter boxes provided indoors when Mother Nature is being damp. I never have a tracking problem. Each litter box has an Omega Paw Paw Cleaning Litter Mat (scroll down the page just a bit -- I use regular open litter boxes, nothing fancy). I've had the mats for years -- starting when the litter boxes got constant traffic, during an earlier regime -- and swear by them.

i have 2 boxes in my bedroom closet [& nothing else,
] & i bought a cheap rug that is almost the same size as the closet. then the littermaids came with litter mats. i put those down first, 'cause they're ugly, then my rug on top. pretty much covers the floor - the entry has a half crescent rubbery loop rug, just to keep it all in. those do pretty well

This is probably going to make no sense, but here goes!

I bought two rugs for like outside. They are ugly brown(hides poop well
). They go right in front of the hooded litter pan doors. They are bristly...made to get the mud off your shoes. Umm....I don't know how else to describe them! They work wonders, & I am careful when I carry them outside & tons of litter falls out of them!

Woohoo, good tips guys! White cat lover-I know what your talking about, they have door mats made out of the same material, I bet those would work well too!

If you're a DIY-type, astroturf works exceptionally well -- but only if your cat doesn't like to chew plastic. You can trim the astroturf to fit the space you have. Make sure it's big enough so the cat isn't go to jump over it, and has to put down all four paws at least once to walk over it.

Be careful to buy those mats...I got some cheaper ones...they look similar but instead of having ridges, they have little points. Evidently the points are uncomfortable to kitty feet, so they jump over the litter mat, slewing litter everywhere!

I just use door mats that you can buy at Menards or Home depot. They are about $5.00 and they work wonders. I change them out well honestly I've only ever changed them once since I've had the kitties. So I've had my first ones for about 7 years. ( I changed them this year, they were getting curls in the corners from the vacum) I seriously doubt I'd ever buy something else.

I use tatami mats. I think that is what they are called. They come in a roll. I bought several of them at an auction. The cats love them....they scratch at them, when they get too scratched up i toss them.
