Male cat - enlarged nipples

Hi. I have a 13 year old male tabby who has been very healthy his whole life. Within the last week we've noticed that one of his nipples has gotten quite large and redish, as if it's irritated. Two of his other nipples appear slightly larger than normal as well. It doesn't seem to be bothering him; that is to say, he's not meowing all day or anything. I'm just wondering if anyone has come across this before and if they are just a little irritated or if I need to worry about this. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated. Of course, if he needs to go to the vet, I'm out the door immediately, but I don't have a ton a money and can't just go there on a whim. Thanks so much.

If it seems unusual to you, then I'd say it at least warrants a phone call to the vet. Once you've explained what's going on, they can hopefully tell you if you should bring your cat in to be seen.
