Well, on Friday, I brought home a new kitten. She is 3 months old and I got her from a rescue I used to volunteer at. (I stopped volunteering because the people there all have sticks up their rear-ends.) Well it is now sunday. The older cat, Miki (7-8 months old) is still hissing, but is not doing it as much as she was on Friday. The kitten can come very close to her and she won't hiss but as soon as the kitten looks at Miki, Miki will hiss. They have been chasing each other around and what looks like fighting, but neither gets hurt. It almost looks like they are playing, but every now and then, Miki will let out a growl or a hiss, and the kitten will back off? Any suggestions on how to get them to get along better. I know its only day 3 but, I'm just worried Miki will hurt the kitten, since Miki is getting bolder and approaching/chasing the kitten.

Side Note: The kitten's name is Tyran, short for tyrant.

Let them beef it out. If neither is getting hurt then I don't see why it really matters. Once they get it out of their system they will be best friends. They have to figure out who's the boss. Once they do things will get better. Congrats on the new kitten. Isn't that always fun?

Well right now, I'm at my moms house. I don't leave them together while I'm not there. The kitten goes into the bathroom (kitten-proofed of course) and Miki gets the run of the room. I don't want to risk the kitten getting hurt and no one being there to help her.

Having a kitten is fun. She's a cuddly little bugger. She starts to purr if you just touch her, and she loves to curl up on your chest to sleep. She even recognizes me as Mom. She'll be exploring and I'll be reading or something and she'll start calling out. I'll go and find her and she'll pop her head up when she sees me and trots over chattering away, rubs against me and demands loving and then scurries away to explore some more. Then the whole process will repeat.
