We adopted a kitty from a shelter after we moved into our new place that allowed pets. He had been declawed by previous owners, and was relinquished because he developed litterbox issues after they got a new puppy (was fine before that).
He developed a UTI in the shelter apparently that might not be fully treated, and we're working on that, and waiting for the urinalysis to go through (the shelter didn't have a lot of money to spend on vet care apparently, they didn't do a urinalysis when he started peeing blood, just gave him antibiotic shots.) But we're getting it taken care of, and watching to make sure he actually does go and doesn't develop a blockage. He's on Hills c/d just in case, to help prevent a blockage. No more blood.
How do we know? Because he's going on our couches. We can deal. Our couches were hand-me-downs and we didn't pay much for them at all. But we'd like to not have to buy new couches for awhile.
... after frutilessly using enzyme cleaners over and over again, and not noticing much of a difference, we'd like to at least not add any additional smell to the couches, and maybe give them a chance to work without having all the work undone by a fresh dousing.
Does anyone know where to purchase those old-fashioned plastic slipcovers? (I'm the only one who sits on our couches other than kitty, and I'll deal with the noise and sweatiness. We won't have any guests over anyway if our house starts smelling seriously like cat pee!)
