Well, today my cats almost hunted down my parakeet.
They usually leave the bird alone, but she got out of her cage today, as I was chaning her water, and I didn't know. I was in the other room, and I hear all this jumping going on, but I didn't think much of it, but it kept going on, so I went into the other room, and my poor parakeet was on the floor and both my cats were there.
Thank heaven they are persians so they are really bad hunters, because my parakeet was not hurt, but that was a scarey moment. Judging by how long that jumping was going on before I went to check, they easily had 10 minutes of hunting, but the parakeet doesn't have a scratch on her.

Actually, they looked confused.
What can I say? They are persians. The parakeet is fine, they didn't hurt her.
With all that jumping they did, I wonder what they were doing, because they obviously didn't touch the bird. Must have been just following her around.

If this is the first time they've experienced catching prey, I'm not surprised by their reaction. You better keep a more watchful eye on your parakeet. Your cats (Persians or not) have tasted the "thrill of the hunt"!
