Do you consider Royal Canin to be a great food better than Whiskas, Kirkland, Eukanuba and Cat Chow?
And also do you think the new formula is better than the old one? (I use the old one, no new formula yet here in Mexico)

I do consider it to be better than the foods you listed, well, actually, I think Kirkland is pretty good. However, I, personally, think it is a mid quality food. I find it contains tons of grains and corn, but not that much meat.

Between those, I would put Royal Canin and Eukanuba to be the top. Royal Canin is pretty good, but it is higher in grains than Eukanuba. Sooo, it all depends on how you "feel" about by-products, because Royal Canin doesn't use them and Eukanuba does. (I feed Eukanuba)

I am not sure, as the RC in the UK doesn't state a meat content, and I know someone who runs a rescue was offered a deal with them, and they wouldn't tell her the meat content either, so she refused to use them. My local pet shop were supposed to be ringing them for me to see if they could get a meat content out of them.

What do you mean by this? They both use chicken....and Euk. states (on the website) the caloric distribution of meat vs. carbs, etc.

Royal Canin is better than the others mentioned...

The new formulas seem to have more corn and extra grains than the old but it is good ... as it has no by products or chemical preservatives ...

can you send a link ?? I would think it is the caloric distribution of protein vs carbs which is not alway s just meat as corn and other grains contain protein..

WEll, I have two sample bags of RC in front of me, and all it says is dehydrated poultry meat - doesn't say what percentage it is, so it could be lower than what I currently feed, or could be higher, I dont know. Has more (and weirder actually - why would a cat want green tea and grape extracts?) ingredients than waht I currently feed.

I know that some grains contain protein, but the only grains in this formula are brewer's rice (no protein), and corn grits (20% protein by composition on average). There is beet pulp for a stool hardener but that doesn't contain protein either.
