why would a normally anal retentive cat about cleaning NOT clean herself after birth? she still has dried blood in her fur, and looks terrible!! also, she is still dripping blood like a period, is that normal? its not much, a drop or so every so often.

I don't know about the dripping blood, but my question is how long ago did she have her babies. The poor dear may still just be a little fatigued. After the birth right on to mommying her little ones. She is probably just still tired but if it is too much blood I would have her checked out. But I'm sure someone with more expertise will give you something more cocrete

Kitty had dried blood in her fur for a day or 2 after birth. she cleaned it eventually. like she said in the above post, she is just tired. lol. as for the blood dripping, i think it is normal for her to drip a little for like a day or two (i could be wrong) but if she is bleeding alot i would have her checked out.

she just had the kits yesterday. its only a few drops here and there,, mostly when she stretches or strains in the potty.

It is normal to have a small amount of bleeding after the births. And it does take a toll having to clean the kittens up, and eat the afterbirths, then keep cleaning herself. I suspect she will be clean by tomorrow morning!

Most queens will have a little bit of a bloody discharge for up to ten days (or so) after delivery. It should just be a few little drops though. If you see more than a few drops or if the discharge is thick, pus-like or has a strong unpleasant odor, you need to have her in to see her vet.

Ahh see there is nothing to worry about. Your baby is just being a good mommy and worrying about the kits and not herself.
