It depends if I am at work or home...sometimes at work I do not have time to read everyones post because I have a customer or boss walks into the room but I want to repsond to the original post so I just respond. If I am at home I will read what everyone has to say then post my response.

I also read all of the posts. Often I'll read the OP, and there's something I want to say, but before I do that, I'll read what others have said. If somebody has made the point I wanted to make, I don't respond. Like Linda said, if I don't have anything of value to add, there's no point. That's why I have relatively fewer posts than many people. I agree, it's annoying to see the same thing being posted over and over again.

Also, sometimes the thread has taken a turn, so trying to make a point on the original topic is irrelevant.

I agree, though, that threads like radio question and the games don't necessarily need to be read. I would like to think that somebody is reading them, otherwise what is the point of their existence? Often I think people are trying to rack up posts. It's not a contest, there's no prize for racking up a huge amount of posts!

I read everyone's posts pretty well 90% of the time. I like to see what everyone says. I often just end up reading and not posting.

I tend to read every post. And if someone has alread said something I would have said I don't post, but if I have something else that they didn't say I will post the thing left out. Sometimes I feel paranoid that some of you are going to thing I am a bad cat person for not saying "get your cat altered" "Take her to a vet" when 100 other people have said just that-but instead I post something along the lines of "I hope he'she gets better" "good luck with your problem..." ect. I just don't like repeating what 10 other people have already said.

I do get sort of annoyed when someone posts something way off the wall doe to them not reading posts, but on the otherhand I do realize that many of you are busy/at work.

ETA-Also It drives me nuts when you can tell when someone is posting just to get their # of posts up. Why post if you really have nothing to say? Like someone else said, it's not a game, there is no prize for the most posts. Yeah you do get more avatars and options, but still, don't clog up the board with 'empty' posts.

LOL-I am done ranting.

I also try to read all the posts in a thread, and I appreciate it when other people quote the post they are responding to.

I also get very annoyed when it seems like people haven't actually read what the OP said... why respond then?

I do read all the posts, because it helps to get an idea of what suggestions have been put forth already. However, I often begin to type, get distracted, finish the post, only to find mine after 3 or 4 that were typed at the same time.

I read them almost always. Sometimes I type a post before reading all of the prior posts and I come back to edit my post to add something after I read all the posts.

I try to read the whole thread before I add my 2 cents, and if what I would have said has already been said, I won't repeat it, unless reiterating it can be expected to have some positive effect.

I often find that by the time my post hits the board, there have been other responses, either because I was interrupted in writing my response, or I had such a case of revisionitis that it took forever to get it completed

I try to read every post but it all depends on the length of the thread. 6 pages or less and I will read every post. Anything more than that, I will usually read the first and last 3 pages but just skim through the posts in the middle.

It also depends on how interested in the post I am. If it is something that I'm sure I'll have something to add to, then I will probably read every single post, regardless of the length of the thread.

It depends, if someone has posted something and then 12 hours later there are 5 pages to it then i will only reply to the original post first then i read through everyone else

I doubt that people think you're a bad cat person because of that - honey rather than vinegar, afterall.

I honestly can't say that I've ever suspected that anyone was doing that. Sometimes posts are a bit obvious that the person posting hasn't read/understood the OP or thread, but I've never felt that there was anymore to it than that. Is it particularly obvious in some forums? (Maybe I just haven't seen it - I stay away from things that I think will make me too sad).

well after the opening post, I thought I´d better read ALL the posts in the section

No, on a more serious point, for me (and like others) there are many factors to my reading habits. The number of pages will often put me off, I would read the 1st just to get the idea of what the chat was about, but I think if there are loads of responses then I suspect the topic has been well covered, so I dont post anything.
People are busy, but they often like to support others by making a comment (which maybe repeated) but this shows needed support and if the post is a sad one or one that needs vibes, then again, the more replies the original poster is gonna feel better - which is, of course, what it is all about !!

At the end of the day TCS is an excellant service, it provides advice, guidance, friendship, support, love, hope and many, many more things - and none of us are perfect eh !

I know, I remember you mentioning it in one of ButterflyDream's threads.

You aren't being ignored (not by me anyway!) It's had to shake the 'talking to space' feeling that Zissou'sMom mentioned in the OP, though. I have no advice about that, though; I'm as paranoid as the next poster.

I try only to post when I think I'm going to add something meaningful. I think you can tell that by my length of membershit vs number of posts. I try to read all of the posts in a thread because why waste my time posting something someone else said, esp in the health forum. Also someone besides the first poster usually says something pretyt interesting!!

I think alot of the problem is that alot of the time people post at the same time to same thread with the same info. Thats like if someone were posting here on this topic as I'm typing this.

But yes I noticed and it's not just on this forum.

Another thing I wanted to add (which I am sure other people have said)....When someone asks a direct personal question, I will post my reply to the OP and then go back and read the other posts.....even if I have said what someone else already posts...I am not going to change my answer because more than one person can have the same point of view.....

**I mean the questions like: Polls, Radio Questions, Personal questions...etc

zak&rocky, this is just too funny: "I think you can tell that by my length of membershit vs number of posts" I'm not one to point out typos, but

I wasn't trying to make anyone feel bad or be accusatory at all, I hope nobody thinks that! I didn't have anyone specific in mind when starting the thread. I feel better knowing everyone else has noticed it too.

It is obvious when people just post to increase their numbers, although there are very very few people who do that.

I know it happens when we post at the same time. I think those are more jinxes, since it's pretty obvious that they're at the same time if you look at the time stamp. I know I jinxed Jen twice in a row last week sometime!

When I agree with someone and am reiterating what they've said, I usually tag it with something like "as ___ already mentioned".
