Writing a book...

I'm in the thinking process of starting to write a book to help children deal with the death of their pet(s). The only forseeable problem I see right now is the illustrations. I'm not good at drawing animals and people, plus I have Carpal Tunnel at the moment. I'm putting a shout out to anyone that might be able to help me with the illustrations when that time comes. I don't know how payment works with a book but we can work something out, I'm sure.

Usually when it comes to books, it will be the editor who will recommend an illustrator that is on the payroll. I have been working on a children's book for quite sometime and have researched this carefully because I have a very talented cyberfriend who has already done the illustrations for this book, but the editors do not want an illustrated book to read, they just want the manuscript. Good luck with your endeavor! Sadly, more and more small publishers and editors are getting out of the business and it is getting increasingly tough to get your work out there.....

You are Welcome. Go to a bookstore and buy the latest edition of Writers Digest. Inside, you will find all the publishing companies and their requirements for submitted work and a lot more information. The book is thick and set up into sub-catagories for the various styles of writing needed. Kids stories are further divided by age groups so you don't send your work out to a company that won't deal wtih that target audience. Good luck!
