Hi all,
I have been using Pamela Bennett's book, Twisted Whiskers. My cat has a problem with play aggression and would nip at my hands or feet when walking by or lying down. I have since implemented morning and evening play times with some great toys that he seems to enjoy (Da Bird rocks!). This seems to be working as he is no longer biting my hands or feet when I am awake unless he has been overstimulated (rare). He is normally a pretty content and loving cat. However, since I have been using these behaviour modification techniques (play time) to calm his aggression, he has picked up a new habit. He has realized that if he wants to wake me up and get attention in the morning to bite me. Usually it is the hand or arm but it was once the face or ears. This was after some meowing and I turned over to ignore him (it was 4am). I can't put him in a separate room to sleep. While the biting is not hard, it is hard enough that I am not happy with it and I definitely need to discourage this behaviour. As it stands, I can't have anyone catsit him in case he does get more aggressive with someone who isn't me. I know that he is trying to communicate with me in the only way he knows how. Any suggestions you have would be fantastic. Any Canadians who know how to get Feliway?
Cindy
