Kitty Heaven?

I know that everyone here loves cats, which may bias their oppinion on this topic, but what do you guys think about cats seriously having a soul, therefore going to heaven? I hope with all my heart that they do, but what if they don't? I don't know what made me start thinking about it, but if I don't ever see my kitties again, heaven would be a very sad place.

I think that this is something that is very upseting if you are taught to believe that only humans have souls.

If you don't believe anyone has souls, or that everything alive has some sort of spirit, it's much more egalitarian and much less confusing.

I can't tell you what you should believe, but I can tell you that I believe either it's ok and we'll all see each other again, or we won't - either because of reincarnation or because none of us have souls (my personal beliefs lean towards reincarnation). I don't - and can't - believe in a heaven without animals, or that they have no souls.

I don't know what faith you profess, but if it helps, Pope John Paul II was known to believe that animals possessed 'some soul' (if you are Catholic I would encourage you to reflect on the passage on the keys to heaven 'who you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven', but even if you are not, I think it is helpful to realise that even some of the most conservative memebers of conservative faiths believe that animals have a soul).

I belive that animals have souls...I even got into an agrument with a priest from our church about it...I can't imagine it being "heaven" without our kitties there.

***I also believe in sylvia brown...and if you know who she is, she states that the animals go over to the "other side" just as humans do

All I have to do is look into my cats' eyes to know that they have a soul. And if cats aren't in "heaven" (or whatever your concept of that is), then I want no part of it. If "heaven" cannot accept innocents who are so thoroughly capable of love, then it isn't a just reward IMO.

Wow! I've never read the "Rainbow Bridge" story. I have tears in my eyes, because I can think of all the animals I've known waiting for me over the Rainbow Bridge.

well, i used to never think or wonder about it It was just a animal, of course they dont have souls or anything like that etc..

lol however times change. I still dont know if they have what we would call a soul or not. But after years of having pets, and some very strange things happing that not only I but several others have seen or heard. I think there must be more there then meets the eye. I told this story somewhere here before. but

I came back to visit my family home after being gone for years and years, as we pulled in the drive way i thought i saw my old black kitty sitting in the window, just for split second. well, i thought it was just a old memory, but as my mother was came out of the house asking if we saw a cat(there was no pets in the house anymore) My wife said, that she thought she had seen a black cat sitting in the window. so now that is three people at the same time.

Maybe those times we are half awake and in bed and we think we feel are old cat or dog jumping on the bed or licking us, It is the animal we loved coming back to check on us and wonding why it is taking us so long to get back to them?

I can think of a couple of pets i had that i would very much like to see again.

I believe that I will reunite with all my long lost pets in Heaven, I truly believe that all living creatures have souls...well maybe not bugs....but def cats, dogs, birds, horses...and the like.

lol yea, i was raised that way, i Can even remember asking my sunday school teacher the same question that was asked here. I was told no animals do not have souls.

at the time i just accepted the answer after all she was the adult not me. lol
As i have gotten older it seems us adults do not know as much as we think we do

i still do not know if they have souls or not. But i still know there is more to are pets then we can see. I have seen loved pets try everything,.to come to me how they where on there death beds. That ability to love someone or something has to come from some where. Be it a spirit or soul i dont know.

hehe but i never found it very upsetting to change my view points when they are wrong.

I seriously believe that all animals have a soul just like we do, and that we will be reunited with them again one day.

I've heard so many stories from people after they've lost their beloved pet saying they could smell them, or feel them

One in particular was a friend who lost one of her 5 cats a couple of years ago. She's a vet nurse and although she has to see so many animals pts she was distraught after losing Bumper.

As she lay in bed one night just a couple of days after Bumpers passing she said she could feel him lying across her legs like he used to do.

It was then Emma knew that was a sign from Bumper to say " I'm ok mum! "

I like to believe in heaven and I have always just assumed my dogs that have passed, and my kitties that will one day pass ( ) will be there when I am.
I had an awful car crash a couple of years ago and there is no way I walked out of that without someone watching over me, my Grandad and my best friend were watching me that day without a doubt, I should not actually be here.
I think that when we die we will be reunited with our loved ones and pets, and if I didn't think that I'd probably go insane thinking about what happens when we die. Whether it's true or not, it's comforting to believe in heaven and the rainbow bridge. It helps us deal with our losses and nobody can knock that. Without sounding harsh, I often think that if none of it is true then Im not going to know about it anyway because I will be dead, but it will be comforting for my loved ones to think thats where I am, as it is for us here now and thats all that matters.

EDIT: I've just realised I've gone off on a tangeant from your question, I believe that if there is a heaven it is undoubtedly for everyone with a heartbeat and the includes all animals, why would God have made it any different if we are all his creatures.

I do believe in another life and that who we know (friends, family, animals, etc) in this life will be there in the next. Whether the next life exists in heaven, hell (if there is such a place) or we are reincarnated.

I believe in heaven, and I have always believed that animals have a soul. I don't know how I feel about bugs, etc. But I believe that anything with a personality, and a heart, and the ability to love has a soul.

Does anyone remember that Robin Williams movie "What Dreams May Come"? I really loved that movie, and I loved the way heaven was portrayed, in his wifes painting, and how the beloved family dog was there to greet him so he wouldn't be afraid, and how he recognized the dogs bark from far away even though the dog had died years before... I think it was a great movie, and it was very nicely done, and I feel that is a nice way to think of heaven...just MO....

I've never read the actual story. I so hope it's true.

Animals are Gods creatures so as far as I'm concerned they go to heaven too, it better be true I need to be with my Bella for all eternity.She is still with me right now but she has cancer. There is a book by Sylvia Browne (the lady from Montel Williams show) All about animals in heaven it's really cool!

It is called Animals on the Other Side, it's kind of like a childrens book, it's great, when my Bella got sick I read it a 100 times, it's very comforting.
