help last sat we got two new kittens brother and sister from my daughter (who wanted to watch them grow up) they are approx 9 -10 weeks old. ralph was the runt of the litter but is now the biggest, but today infact he keeps suckling himself and has made one of his nipples sore, we tried putting mustard on it to try and stop him, please can someone help as of all the cats we have had, he is the first one we have come across that has done this his sister tried to do it to him too, they are not left alone someone is her all day and they get lots of attention and cuddles, hiope someone can advise us thanks in advance Lorraine

Im no expert and im sure someone else more experienced will be along to help soon but It sounds like he is looking for comfort.
Has he maybe got a soft toy he can snuggle up to? All i can imagine is my 9 yr old son who STILL lol, sucks his thumb. He is in the habbit of doing it for comfort and when he is bored. Maybe its similar in cats. (you never know) or I could just be nutty. lol

I would try some bitter apple on the nipple that he is suckling...and you will want to get him a stuffed animal to comfort him.

Chances are...they were taken away from their mom too young.
