Is this one of the most adorable things cat do, or what? Claire has started greeting me with a silent meow whenever I walk into the room and say "Where's my Claire?" Most of the time, she just looks up at me, tilts her head slightly and opens her mouth, but nothing comes out. Occasionally, it's just the quietest, sweetest meow. I just love it when my precious girl does this!

How sweet! Phenom does a tiny meow too. I don't think I have ever heard her do a full out meow!

Jaffa does this sometimes and it's the most adorable sound (or lack of!). I have to stop whatever I'm doing and go cuddle him!

Incidentally, has anyone read the Paul Galico (?) book of the same name?

My oldest cat can meow really loudly if she wants too. But most of the time when she meows it's almost a whisper, and sometimes totally silent.

My youngest on the other hand is a BIG MOUTH. She's a chatter box for sure. I brush her and she chatters away. I cuddle her and she purrs and chatters away. I look at her and she's cooing and chattering away before she runs and leaps on me.

Cats are quite unique and they sure have their quirks and individual personalities.

Aren't they darling when they do that??? My Anna does that while squinting her eyes shut and wiggling her whiskers...but she doesn't make a sound! But that's just when I say "theres my baby"!! It's like she's grinning at me!

It is so cute when they do that. My eldest - Kuce - gives us the silent meow on a regular bases (though she can meow if she wants to). The other two are plain medium meowers.

Loving my beautiful baby girl
This is so precious, isn't it!
I was fascinated to learn a little while back that since cats can hear pitches much higher than we can, other cats are able to hear and understand this silent meow, it's just that the kitty is meowing in a pitch too high for us to hear. Don't you just know our kitties are well aware how this melts our heart!

I definitely know that they know just how cute we think that is! Trent figured it out first, that we would drop just about anything to cuddle him if he gave us the silent meow. Well, after a while, Ophelia started doing it too!
Silly kitties! They definitely know how to wrap us both firmly around their little dewclaws!

For the longest time Miss Pearl had the quietest meow.....just very very soft....and sweet (def not at all Siamese like)....now she's gotten a bit louder (though I can tell her meow and Pandora's Meow apart).

My cats always know when I think they are doing something cute. Because I'm always dropping whatever I have in my hand to go cuddle with them. haha. And the fact that I'm always saying "Oh How Cute!!!!!!" I say a variety of things that give it away. Lol

Luckily we have 2 quiet Siamese.
Mika has a voicebox defect and doesn't meow (just makes little huffing noises to get your attention) and Bijou really only "talks" to daddy when he is asking to go outside. He doesn't talk to meowmy because he knows meowmy won't let him go outside.
