No advice, but I hope it all goes OK. What an awful situation to be put in. You'll be in my prayers.

I can understand how the police is corrupt in the U.S. I only have too many horror stories to tell but I won't out of respect for the other people involved in.

I can only offer my sympathy and tell you it is great your husband is going with you. He sounds very caring and considerate (your husband, not your dad).

And remember, dogs use size and aggression to determine who is boss. Cats use a steady gaze and calm demeanor. If you visit, be a cat. Be calm and steady, and know that in a pinch you can leave the situation.
Prayers and positive vibes are coming your way.

I am so sorry, that things where that bad for you.
Unless you feel that you HAVE to go, I would not do it.
i wish you the best of luck

Aw... are you going to go? I would call and ask for more details before I went. Maybe he just needs your signature on some legal document, or something else where you have to be physically present (that isn't necessarily bad in and by itself).

I think you've gotten some great advice here. I think taking your hubby, pepper spray, and having someone call you are great ideas. Or even if you don't have someone call, you can tell him that you are. It's probably best to just go and get it over with. Better than worrying about what it is he's going to say.

I was going to suggest a restaurant, that would be the ideal situation. But I guess that's out. Please let us know if you go, and if you're ok afterward...??? In this thread so those of us who are concerned won't miss it?

There are those of us who have had fathers who are similar to this, so feel free to PM if you want. Hugs, Kim.

I've been checking this post and I keep coming up empty for profound things to say - I think the advice you've been given has been good, and I don't have anything new to add.

I just want you to know that I have you in my thoughts and that I am deeply sorry that you and your loved ones have these fears.
