OK - I have an addition on my fence to keep the cats in the yard. Unfortunately there are some trees next to the fence, and although the cat fence guy put something on the trees to keep the cat off - it's not working. Elsa keeps climbing the trees and getting out of the yard - AARGH. So...I remember in the "olden days" some sort of device that people put on their trees to keep the squirrels from climbing their trees - a piece of aluminum pointing downward like a roof... Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd rather not cut down the trees, but that is definitely an option. But they're Aspens, and are very nice and add shade to the yard.

Oh, and they're only 3-4" in diameter and about 10' tall. Thanks, all - I've checked Home Depot and everything and just can't figure this one out!

Yeah. I could do that. Although the doggies like the shade!

But my babies are very important to me. They can kill bugs in the yard, but I don't want them roaming. We have predators here.

yes we have predators here in our neighborhood too. They are called Coyotes!! Grr I wish they would go away! That's how my last cat died. We think she was eaten by a coyote. She was an outside cat. We lived without animals in our house for like 6 or 7 months, but I just had to get more kitties. So i adopted my babies a few months ago. Everything is going great, considering they are inside cats and I dont have to worry about those damn coyotes. YAY lol but my baby lucius has crystaluria which means that he has crystals in his urine and it basically has somewhat to do with his diet. So he is on a specific diet and is gettin medicine 2 times a day. Its been 2 days and he seems totally fine. were going to get his urine checked again in 2 weeks to make sure that everythings gonna be ok. hopefully he will be fine in 2 weeks. But in the mean time think about cutting those trees down. Is shade really worth losing your babies? I think not. Lol

I think you coud just go get a flat piece of alumminum and sort of wrap it around the trees, cats can't climb up such a smooth surface, but it will have to go up the tree quiet a ways-cats can JUMP pretty dang high!
