I don't know what to do! I am crying in pain with a toothache! It is killing me so bad! I took advil for pain but it is not helping. I just started a antibotic. I don't have insurance and can't afford to go get it taking care of this month! Is there anything I can do to ease the pain?

gargle with warm salt water. Get some extra strength ambasol from the drug store.

I was just like you. absoluty BESIDE myself with toothpain. I know EXACTLY how you feel and what you are going through. I am SOOOO sorry, it is mind numbing!

I ended up needing 2 root canals, and 2 crowns. I had NO insurance and cost me 1,600 PER tooth for the RC's and 900 PER tooth for the Crowns.

If you don't have a dentist you are friendly with, I would start calling around now and see if yours or one you can find will either give you a discount, let you make payments, or at least give you a perscription for a good CHEAP pain killer, without having to make an "office visit"

Gargel with salt water reguarly though. Keep up on the advil. A warm wet compress did WONDERS too to ease the pain.

I would go and get hand warmers from walmart, the kind you open and the air makes them heat up. I would tie them to my face with a scarf. NO KIDDING. that helped alot. Stay away from COLD compresses. That just hurts it more.

You more than likely have an abcess, that is where all the pain is coming from. If you can suck your gums around the tooth, i know it sounds gross, but sometimes that will relive the pressure on the abcess and make it burst. I did this once with another tooth i have that gives me problems occasionally, (i don't have the money for another root canal, so I have to suck it up with this tooth. So far I have been lucky)

See if you can make it burst. Every time you try, do Warm, almost hot salt water gargles over that tooth before and after. the salt tends to kill infection.

GOOD luck to you! I wish I could help you more.

To sum up....

AMBOSOL for TOOTH ACHE (spelled wrong)
WARM DAMP COMPRESS
ADVIL
WARM SALT WATER GARGLES
TRY TO "SUCK" OUT THE ABCESS (Bleh)

try to get to a dentist:
see if he will give you a script for antibiotics and cheap but GOOD pain killers
(don't let him whimp out on you and give you perscription advil (ibuprophen) you can get the same effect by taking more of the stuff you get Over the counter)

Nuh uh...might give me away!
Please, if you're worried about paying for dental, medical, or vertinarian services, check out www.carecredit.com. If you qualify, you'll have low monthly payments and in some instances, 0% apr. This is something you really should get taken care of.
Good luck!!!

You can check with a dentist that might have a payment plan....if all you need is a filling those usually cost around 100 dollars....so if you can get a payment plan and have small payments to make....believe me if you don't take care of it now...it is going to cost more later.

some dentists will go on a payment plan but if u notice any swelling or anything like that make a trip to the er most hospitals have programs for people with low income no insurance a abcessed tooth is nothing to mess with i wont go into it now as dont want to scare but they can be a life threatning thing

Also in the meantime...get some of that Oragel (*not sure if thats the right name)...but its a creamy gel that you rub on the tooth and on the gums around the tooth...it numbs it so the pain will go away...and believe me it works...cause a few years ago I had to get a root canal done, but I couldn't get an appt for a couple of days and that oragel stuff helped sooo much with the pain.

ugh, I just read the replys in this thread.

It makes my teeth hurt. I think we have all been there. Really, I am wincing with sympathy pains right now.

I hope you can get it taken care of really soon.

Oralgel or ambosol for TOOTH Pain both should work fine. Just make sure you get the tooth pain kind. Both companies also make pain relife for mouth sores, cold sores and the like. You want to get the right kind, so that it will work.

But be sure to get to the dentis ASAP, i had to use care credit on one of my root canals. If you are in a smaller town, the root canal shouldn't be that bad.

Dentist cost vary GREATLY from town to town.

In Washington DC where i was, my cost was like I said $1600 per tooth for the RC and $900 per tooth for the crown. Where my grandmother lived 2 hours away, the cost was $600 per tooth for root canals!!!

If you DO need a root canal, but can't afford it RIGHT now, there is something called a PULPECTOMY, i had that done on one of the teeth. It is temporary, and i had to go within 30 days and have the rest of the rootcanal done, but man, it sure did help and allievate the pain. I believe it cost only $120 bucks.

Thank you for all your replys. I am on a antibotic because it is infected and they can't work on it being infected. I called around and found someone who will work for me.

Go to the nearest GNC or drug store and ask for Clove Oil - Put on a cotton ball and use it to gently swab the gums that surround the painful tooth.

The oil of cloves is a strong antibacterial, a powerful antiseptic, an analgesic and a weak anaesthetic when applied to decayed teeth.

Of this sould only be a temporary solution ....

Also it is an ESSENTIAL OIL and therefore please keep away from cats..
