I come here in major need of help..

My hubby and I have seperated,I had no choice but to leave, due to an abusive situation...I have 11-14 cats that needs homes desperately...They have all been kept indoors, and been leukemia tested...And all but 1 has been spayed/neutered...

If ya know any help,or have any suggestions, please let me know..

Thank you so much,
SiderBug/Kat

You might want to see if there's a rescue group in your area maybe they can help you find homes, or een ask your local vet or see if you can find a no kill shelter, someone else may have some other advice to offer, just hang in there

First off, congratulations, you are doing the right thing. I know how hard it is.

I hope someone can help you figure out homes for the cats. Is there any way you could board them secretly until you get settled somewhere else? I can't imagine giving mine up-- but I know sometimes in getting out of an abusive relationship you have to do a whole lot of things you'd rather not do. A no-kill shelter or a rescue group is a great idea. Explain to them what is going on, they might have even better ideas.

I have called or emailed most all of the no kill shelters within a certain range of my lil town, and there is no help from any of them...I dont want to have to give them up,but feel there is no other choice at this time...I want whats best for them, and I think a forever home would be best for them, not being moved here, and there, and never knowing where they belong..I have kept 4,I kept the ones that are special needs babies, and would be even harder to place ...

Thanks,
Kat

Kat...I realize you are trying to determine what is best for your cats...but the reality of the summer is that it is right in the middle of kitten season...so unfortunately you may not find homes for your cats right away. I think it is better to take these cats with you then to drop them off at a shelter (which may or may not be able to find them a new home). What I would recommend is that you concentrate your efforts locally, placing ads in local papers, vet offices and petstores. I would also reach out to your local churches and to other community groups. There is a really good PDF called "how to find homes for homeless pets" that you can find here:

http://www.natewood.net/Rehome.html

It provides suggestions on how to place an ad as well as provides a sample contract. Hopefully by working through your local community, you can find new homes for all your cats.

I second this! I am sending prayers and vibes too.

You will get good advice here, and lots of support. The ideas the other posters have suggested are well worth trying. Obviously, this is a difficult time for you all around, so please be patient with yourself and your circumstances.

I am willing to travel as much as I possibly can to try and find homes for my babies...I have to think of what is best for them, and also the amount of money I have for gas....

Why do ya ask about travel?Do ya know a place that is no kill, that may take them?Or do ya know of someone? Please let me know..

Thank you so much,
Kat.
