Hi everyone. Currently have 6 cats at home. 5 of them have been young strays , of the strays 4 have been hand raised since the mother was nowhere to be found.

Well I found another one at work May 25, 2006. Shes looks to be less than a year old and is pregnant. I found her starving to death. Poor thing was soooo skinny. I noticed her at least 2 weeks prior and saw that she looked pregnant at the time. Well she let me pet her and I was able to bring her into my shop here at work and have been nursing her back to health and she is doing very very well.

The question is should I start worrying about her pregnancy? I've had her for 7 weeks now and she could be 9 weeks pregnant if not more. Her nipples are showing and she will roll over if I pet her in that area, figure its like a kitten nursing. Could she be carrying longer due to the fact she was starving and maybe the kittens are not grown enough yet?????

Wecome to TCS...have you seen any kitten movement?? Or are you just going on the size of her nipples? Has she shown any milk?? Are you certain she doesn't have a bad case of worms and is in fact pregnant?? The reason I ask is that our rescue has had cats were swore were pregnant..but when they passed the date for a delivery, we discovered that they were not pregnant.

This post is really helpful with the signs of pregnancy:

I don't think a pregnancy can go over the expected time frame. But I do think you sound like you really belong here at TCS! (Of course, so does every cat lover who posts here!)
But hand raising orphans, taking on pregnant cats...oh, yeah, you are DEFINITELY a catlady!

Well more like the cat Man here at work

I'm just going to have to wait it out. If she goes over I'm going to just make a trip to the vet. I've been planning on taking her but need to find a vet close to work. I work 1 hour away and our vet would be to far.

Shes not producing milk. But not 100% sure how to check. She seems in very good health now. Worms???? maybe but shes put on so much weight since I took her in that a trip to the vet will be best anyway. She was so gaunt that it felt disturbing to pet her back because you could feel her spine so dramatically.

Also she has not gone into heat either since I took her in?????

Cats can have silent heats where they do not exhibit any of the traditional "signs". I would recommend taking her to the vet at your earliest convenience...sounds like finding a vet closer to work is a good idea and make sure she is kept indoors only.

Sorry I forgot to give an update on how CeCe is doing.

Turned out she had 6 mummified fetuses. Our family Vet operated on her and found that her uterus had ruptured and also had to remove part of her liver. He really was surprised on how well she was doing before the surgery.

She recovered well from the surgery and is doing great.

Oh how sad, I'm sorry to hear that. I guess she couldn't sustain the pregnancy when she was in such poor condition herself. Good thing that you got her to a vet when you did! And glad to hear that she has recovered ok from it, I bet she was much more comfortable once all that was removed. It doesn't even bear thinking about what was going on inside her, poor girl.

Oh, my goodness! Bill, you saved her life! (Sorry for calling you a lady before...we do have a few wonderful cat loving guys here at TCS, but lots more women!)

I'm so sorry she was so ill, but how wonderful that you got her to the vet in time.
