I'm looking for opinions on Cat Foods both wet and dry....I'd like to switch my cat's over to a more healthy food intake.

We're curently feeding them Purina Cat Chow-Indoor and Pro Plan wet food

What are the "good" quality wet and dry foods?

Cat chow unless it is the new natural one wouldnt be something I would feed

Pro plan is decent

Raw is the healthiest but some cats wont eat and some humans wont do...And should only be done under vet guidence unless you have a cat phd or a great mentor to help

Wet look for the least byproducts other than organs listed , low grain and minus chemical preservatives

Also, try to avoid soy--there have been some studies that connect soy to increases in thyroid levels. I like Natural Balance canned, since they have several varieties that I can rotate to keep the kitties from getting bored.

Cat Chow is complete garbage. Sorry to say that, but it the truth. It's really really low quality. My cat, Pearl, was on Cat Chow Indoor when I got her and she pooped like no tomorrow and her coat was definately not in it's best shape. Anyway, now that she is on raw she is doing awesome. Pro Plan is okay, but you could do better.

Here are a list of high qualit foods:

-Innova
-Innova EVO
-California Natural
-Felidae
-TimberWolf Organics
-Chicken Soup For The Pet Lover's Soul
-Natural Balance
-Solid Gold
-Eagle Pack Holistic Select
-Meow Mix (pouches only!! dry food is crap)

We "saved" a stray and, while doing so, investigated alot of different kitty food choices. After being on the higher quality food for a couple of months her coat was completely restored - unbelievable. It was brown, white and almost black with some silvery hairs. It ended up being a beautiful multi-dimensional white and gray which was incredibly soft. She also started acting like a kitty again.

I had started her on Iams Kitten - it was what was available when I found myself as a new cat owner on a Sunday night. She liked it a lot. After doing some studying and seeing what was available locally, I ended up feeding some of the following:
-Innova
-Innova EVO
-California Natural
-Wellness.

The wet foods were noticeably different. I really liked Merrick's - so did she
I've fed others as well (Evanger's, Felidae), after reading the labels. That being said, I only used a small amount to dress up the dry.

Basically, I tried to go for the better protein sources, staying away from corn and most other grains (sometimes feed rice), and shyed away from "meal". www.naturapet.com has a pet food comparison program - it's worth playing with.
