Compound Prednisone

Hello,
My 17 year old (male) Boots & I have been battleling with (possible) IBD for the past two weeks. He's currently taking Prednisone (compound) 1/2 ML every other day & Metronidazole (compound) 1/2 daily.

Has anybody used compound Prednisone? If so, I would appreciate some feedback on improvement time and the effect (or lack) on appetite.

Personally I think IBD is caused by stress. Continue giving the meds as directed, once the symptoms have started they of course need medical treatment, but get some feliway plug-ins and try to eliminate stress in your cat's life, and examine the kinds of foods he is eating.

So he's taking a steroid and an antibiotic at the same time for IBD? How bad is it?

You might try getting some fiber in his diet, like plain canned pumpkin, or plain yogurt with active cultures, to help the drugs work better.

Many of the drugs used to treat IBD can cause gi problems as a side effect, just something to think about.

I have used the human version so I cant help there .... but May I ask some questions>???

When was the last senior panel done and were all values normal?? Has Boots had IBD most of his life??
