I work at a nursing home, this morning the activity department director brought in a brand new female Rat Terrier puppy for the residents. Her name is Lucy and she's such a cute little puppy.
Lucy's body is white with two light tan spots near her tail, she has a light tan head, and very intelligent looking eyes. Lucy belongs to the activity director, not the nursing home, and she will be brought into work every day. The only bad thing is Lucy's age, she is only five weeks old. Otherwise, she will be a wonderful asset and will really help to brighten the lives of the residents. The last dog the nursing home had died about ten years ago, so this has been needed for a long time. If I remember, I will bring my camera to work with me tomorrow and take a picture to share here.

It's amazing to see how the residents react when they are with an animal. It brings them so much happiness and when they are happy they feel better. It's such a wonderful thing.

I remember my Girl Scout Troop working with the local Humane Society to bring in cats and dogs to visit the nursing home. It was really great because it gave us a jumping off point to start conversation with the residents. I don't know who got more out of the visits - us Girl Scouts, the Residents, or the animals who got a good amount of lovin's while they were there.

What a cutie pie! I'm not much of a dog lover, but I do like the terriers-Boston, Jack Russell...Hmm, I wonder if Ivo would like a doggie sibling?

I think it's so wonderful that they do things like this for nursing home residents. It's bad enough some of them have to leave a pet behind when they go to live in a nursing home and then they never get to see any animals. It looks like people are now realizing the effect animals have on people and It's a good thing for both animal and human.
