I've mentioned in a few threads that we're thinking about adopting a calico kitten (about two months old) from our local animal shelter.. and mom finally said she'll give an answer tonight. I'm so excited, because I'm really sure she's going to say yes! I'll post again later after I hear what she decides.

Remember that if she says no, that this little kitty will find a good home anyway, and there'll be more amazing kitties at the shelter in the future. You can't take all the cute ones home

Thanks! I'm getting really excited! I'm not sure when she'll be here though, because they have to stay 24-48 hours after you give them the adoption paper.. I think for approving the adoption and the vaccines and spay/neutering? But anyways.. I'm getting really really excited! The only thing I'm worried about is how Lucy will act.. she's around me a lot, especially when I'm in bed, and she might be a little jealous with the kitten..

Davidson's adorable, by the way. I love how their names go together..

CONGRATULATIONS!
I hope that Lucy, after the customary hisses & swats, to make sure the youngster learns her proper place, takes Davidson to heart, to be a little sister.
Be sure to check out the "introducing the newcomer" threads here in the forums & in the CatBehavior section of TCS - the tips really work!

Yay!

I am so excited for you! Kittens are such a cute furball of joy!

Be prepaird to wonder how your cat got so big overnight.

We always though Polly to be petite and light.

We got he kitten and now Polly is SO FAT AND HUGE! We pick her up and it's like JEEZE Polly! When did you get so big!!

Polly and Roxie fought the first day togther. I didn't know about keeping them seperate and letting them smell each other and using towels and the like.

We just threw 'em together. lol I guess we were lucky. They hissed a bit the first day, the second day they were just fine.

Polly has to be told everynow and then to be gentle. Roxie was so small when we got her 5 weeks old, and Polly would play with her like she was a stuffed squirell!

Good luck with introductions!

Thanks! I'm sure Lu will do a lot of hissing.. but I hope she won't be too mean, since she's a kitten. She actually doesn't have a name yet.. I was commenting babyharley on her newer kitten Davidson.
I'll have to check out the introduction threads.. thanks!

I'm excited, too.. I haven't brought home a "kitten" for a long time. The last cat we brought home was last August, and she's about 14 now.

I'm sure I will be a little surprised.. she's so tiny right now.. if she ends up as fat as Lu, I'll really be surprised..

I'll have to try the towel/scent thing, by the way.. that sounds like a good idea.

I do really like the name Clovis, but I haven't decided yet.. why is it that there are so many cute names, but you can only have one?! It's not fair!

So there's a little bit of news. I took the application in, and the lady was really nice.. she said that there's a 24 hour wait for them to look over/approve the application.. but.. there was a lady coming in today to look at the same kitten. I think I may have even passed her coming in when I was leaving the shelter. But there's another "but".. the lady who took my application said she wasn't sure if I'd get first choice since I filled out/turned in an adoption application, and the other lady hasn't, and was coming to look. I've never done the whole "adopting from a shelter" thing, so does anyone know how it works in this situation? I'm not really worried, since I've applied, and she hasn't, but I'll be really disappointed if she gets to decide on adopting before I do..
