I went for a job interview today, and I think I did well, but I'm overqualified and the job seems quite boring...

Then I got home, and I got an email about a job I put in for yesterday that looks REALLY interesting! The recruiter at that company wanted more information from me, so hopefully that's a good sign - not just that I didn't put enough info in my application!

Man, I'm nervous and excited now, I hope this other job comes through!!

Oh mannnn I just read the full job description for this job I'm excited about, and I think I fulfill all of the requirements, and this sounds like the perfect job for me!

I better get out and do something rather than checking my email every 2 minutes... This company is known to take forever with recruiting, so no use holding my breath waiting

I got rejected
I made it through 3 different people who all passed me, then someone decided I wasn't qualified enough.

Dammit, I was one of only 3 people under 25 to be in middle management in the Government Dept I worked for in Australia, and now here in the US I can't get anything half decent.

The only jobs I've been looked at for (apart from this one I just got rejected for) is admin work with just basic filing and photocopying, and they keep passing me up, because I'm overqualified and they know I'll get bored pretty fast.

All because I don't have a completed degree...

I know it can be very frustrating...when they say you are "overqualified", but then they don't want you to be "underqualified" ...so I guess you have to be in the middle somewhere

IMO, overqualified just means that they don't want to pay you what you're asking for. Sorry the job didn't work out for you. Hopefully something even better will come your way.

Thanks guys. I'm just frustrated because I spent the last 3 years working my way up from nothing to a decent job where I was respected and trusted, and now it feels as though I have to start from the bottom AGAIN, and the last 3 years were a waste.

And to make things worse, we have a big Dyson vacuum cleaner, and I was vacuuming the stairs with the hose attachment, and the vacuum cleaner fell down and hit me and caused me to fall and hit my head on the railing, and also hurt my hand.

I think it's just one of those days.

And I just told my husband about my bad day via messenger since he's at work, and his response was "Oh dear, that's no good".

I mean I know he's busy but would it hurt to give a little more sympathy?? I didn't even get a "are you ok?"

Sigh...

Well, he was being a husband alright - did he take lessons from mine?

Sorry that things are going lousy for you lately! I know that everyone here at TCS is VERY grateful that you were not hurt - accidents on the stairs can be soo dangerous
I hope that you get a dream job very soon - I hate job hunting. My lifetime favorite job happened after months of discouragment; I had applied at a restaurant, and had just been stood up by the manager for the third time of scheduling an interview. I was soo discouraged, I wanted to cry in public. Anyhow, the bus stop was near another dinnerhouse/bar; so I suddenly went in to apply (it was before business hours, but I found managers in the back office. I asked the manager if I could see a menu & if the food was good; when she asked why, I told her if it was good food I would apply for a job. The corporate vice-president heard this. The manager said she'd do better than show me a menu; she ordered the prep cook to make me some appetizers & after I ate it, asked if I wanted an application.
I sure did!
I applied, then went home. As I entered my house, the phone was ringing - could I come bus tables that night? There were no openings, but the manager & the VP agreed that the company needed me. I worked at that job for over 12 years, until a car accident injured my neck permanently. THAT is the kind of job I hope and pray that you find very, very soon.
