Anywhere that doesn't involve a computer or fixing a computer is a beautiful vacation spot for me

I like vacationing at places where there is alot of stuff to see and do. Some good restaurants and shopping is a plus. The hotel needs a pool and whirlpool and clean quiet rooms. I'm not too fussy!!

Unfashionable end of the western spiral arm of the
roughing it! I want an adventure... I'd get bored lying on a beach all day.

I've been wilderness camping a few times... packing everything I need in a backpack, hiking for hours to the campsite and then cooking a meal on a little camping stove. It's a lot of fun! Very statisfying.
After that, you feel really relaxed and once you're home, you really enjoy all the luxuries of home, such as showers and toilets!

I'd also like to "rough it" in other countries... but that will have to wait until I have enough money for a plane ticket.

I would love to rough it but I need running water and electricity. So camping somewhere with community showers and electric in a bathhouse area is good for me. I usually go somewhere really cool and just stay in cheap motels though, like when I went to NM/AZ. Yay AAA book!

My friend went to Isle Royale last summer. It's between MI and Canada. The nearest anything is like an hour away by express ferry, there's no electricity, you have to either hike or go by boat, etc. They do have little shelters, but they also have all kinds of weird wildlife: http://www.nps.gov/isro/

If you like roughing it, then that is a great place. I couldn't do it.

Camping? Maybe in a fully equipped 30ft motor home/camper! Otherwise it's motels and hotels. Must have flushing toilets and soft beds!!

Dad "roughed it" in Korea and Mom grew up on a farm so our vacations utilized motels - most found in the AAA guides!

I love anything outdoors/nature oriented!!!! My idea of the perfect vacation would be horseback riding through the mountains, sort of camping out but just with horses, and of course sleeping in a tent.

I definately agree Jan! I have never been camping. Maybe I would like it but I am such a girly-girl that I would DIE without electricity and water and pottys

Five star resort, with a private beach and my own cabanna boy, and open bar. Mmmmm

I must have my closest friends there too though. The ones that like to drink the fruity, umbrella-ed drinks and LAY IN THE SUN ALL DAY!!!

My perfect vacation, generally speaking, is unstructured time on my own turf. I usually spend four weeks doing that every summer, and another in October. Vacation, for me, is about not subjecting myself to anyone else's schedules or agendas for any reason.

No 5-star resort can beat my own bed, and my own lawn, and if I want to get out into nature, it's minutes away. I also deal very badly with being away from my kitties (just ask Rob).

I've been known to make exceptions to this rule, if the reason is good enough.

And the air conditioning!!

I have been camping - Girl Scouts (all of two nights and I wanted to go home because I missed the cats!) and with my sister's family (once with no tent, just a sleeping bag in the back of a pick-up truck!).

Must laugh because a couple of years ago, sis and hubby bought a camping trailer because sis said she was too old for tent camping and needed the soft bed.

Oh, don't want to forget - Dad never wanted to camp because if it was a "vacation", then no one should have to cook!
(Esp. true after visiting his brother and his family at a campground. Aunt had sprained her ankle and we took up some food to help out. When we arrived, aunt was hobbling around trying to cook while uncle and cousins were out swimming!!)
