My 3 year old male cat has been carrying various garments around and yowling, mostly at night. The behavior started several weeks after we introduced a new young cat in the home and they seem to get along fine. Does anyone have a clue about what is going on?

Welcome to The Cat Site!

Believe it or not, what you are describing is not unusual at all. Although I have seen this more in female than male cats, I have known my share of males who have done this as well. Perhaps having the young cat join the household has triggered your older cat's paternal instincts, so he is carrying his "baby" around and calling to the others.

It could be breeding season in the neighborhood? Is he neutered?

There's no place like home
Both my Sage and Dakota (males) do that with dirty socks and underware that they manage to sneak out of the laundry. I have had other male cats do that in the past. My guess is that they think they have caught a good kill and they are meowling about it. They do drag it around as if it is a prized catch. I have also seen cats do this with the rare mouse that comes into my house.
