So I went to work today, EXTREMELY nervous with Jimmy coming in again. The psychologist will be there at 2:15pm which is during naptime

Anyways, Jimmy has had a PERFECT day. He has been shouting out colors and numbers and doing the alphabet and speaking a little. I thought he was more talkitive when I first posted but was wrong. He speaks but not often and not very well. And best of all, he hasn't even ATTEMPTED to bite ANY children today. Of course, on the day that he is being tested he tells us colors, not biting, etc. They will be testing him home and not at the daycare which I find odd seeing as how he is an only child and they don't see his interaction with other children(which there is none).

I am so confused as to why his behavior has changed today. We feel like he will just be back to biting tomorrow and this is a a fluke. He is perfect today.

One thing that is odd is the only place he bites is in the bicep area(upper arm) and while we hold him, he strokes your upper arm which I find a little strange.

Just please send some vibes and prayers that they find whatever is wrong here and he gets treatment for it.

If you need to hear my story, here's the link:

Again, thank you all of those that haven given me advice! I don't know what I would do without everyone!

Well, thats good news that he was good today. Maybe he is growing out of the biting stage?

Best of luck with him, I know it must be scary for fear of the other kids getting hurt.

Maybe he is bipolar. Or maybe whatever triggers it at home, like his parents fighting, didn't happen today?

I do hope the psychologist can shed some light on it. Best wishes for little jimmy and his serious behavioral problem.

That is weird about the upper arm.

I think so to - sounds a bit focussed, like autism? I don't know, I hope it works out for all concerned.

Problem people usually come in pairs. Perhaps you are removing him from someone who sets him off.

Or there are environmental factors such as different chemical presence in each room....cleaned with different chemicals, etc.

Please don't think that it is a fluke - please give credit to your good influences! I know it's hard not to dread the bad behavior, but remember "self-fulfilling prophecy". If you have to, try to think of Jimmy as a skittish, perhaps-mishandled colt; if you are nervous around a young horse, he'll pick up on it & act accordingly. Instead, try to tell yourself what could happen will be bad, but not the worst & when it does happen, you'll deal with it & it will all be okay in the end.
I have had to volunteer in my daughter's special day classes in the past, and that technique worked for me almost without fail. And 2 years ago, when I was volunteering in my grandson's 2nd grade class, there was a Jimmy (yup, his real name) and there was a debate about removing him from mainstream & into SDC. Anyway, I would try to work with him, and play with him at recess & it seemed to help. He had a real mistrust of adults. Turns out that his mom was recently sent to state prison & the CPS wound up removing him from the foster home he was in & placed with an aunt he hardly knew. By the end of the year, he went from not knowing his alphabet to reading
His teacher was so wonderful; remained patient & supportive; there were aggression issues, but I discovered that his 2 most-common "victims" were provoking him (they would make faces, poke him under the table during group activities, etc & he would lash out while they seemed sooo Sweet & Innocent). To be fair to the girls, they too had burdens; one's mom was also in prison & the other girl's mom had moved out of state with a boyfriend, but left the girl behind with her father & new step-mom, who had a baby during the course of the year, but it turns out the father was also having a affair with an employee - such sad dramas for these young hearts to bear
And they don't have the communication skills we adults have, so they act out...

My prayers that the psychologist can find out why & help you help Jimmy! I am sending {{{prayers & vibes}}} for the little guy. And bless you in your work with him - it will take so much love, courage & patience, but I know you can do it

Wow! Glad to hear you had a positive day with Jimmy.

What Zissou'sMom & Shengmei mention could very well be "triggers" that could set him on his biting spree.

I'm sure the psychologist can shed some light on Jimmy's situation. It may not happen in 1 session, but I'm sure by the 3rd she'll have gotten to know him better.

Good Luck!

Glad everything went well today Courtney! Hopefully the psychologist will be able to isolate what is the problem and you won't have to worry about your other kids (at least as much
)

Since I was a problem child growing up, I can only imagine some kinds of chemicals set him off....since benzene molecules are my weakness.

Well Jimmy is right back where he was. Yesterday was just some weird thing apparently. He has attempted to bite in my room twice and the children were rescued in time. He did get one bite in the twos room this morning however. He is back to not speaking and being so "off in the distance". We probably won't find out what the psychologist has found for a few days at least.

Please continue your vibes. I will keep the updates coming as I find out more
