I've already told you guys about how my 6-year-old niece, Kaleigh, is so wonderful with cats and has come with me several times to our main foster home. Now, her little brother, Sean, who's only 2, is already proving to be a little cat person too. They have an older cat and dog at home, and my brother and sister-in-law are doing a wonderful job teaching them how to respect and care for animals.

Anyway, my sister-in-law brought the kids over this weekend and, of course, they wanted to see the kittens I'm fostering. I told them the babies were very scared and they needed to be very quiet and gentle with them. So, I wrapped the little female in a towel and held her so the kids could pet her. Sean was amazing! He stood right next me, and gently scratched the kitten under her chin. Then he cupped her little face in his hands, gave her a little kiss on the head and said, "I love you." It was just about the sweetest thing I've ever seen. (Just wish I'd had the camera handy). I was so proud. What a sweet little guy and a touching moment.

They really are and I'm definitely a proud aunt.

I'm proud of my brother and sister-in-law too for raising such compassionate children and teaching them how to treat animals from an early age. They actually had two cats and two dogs when Kaleigh was born. Sadly Piglet (cat) and Charlie (dog) are no longer with them. Whenever I hear of people giving up their pets because they're having a baby, my brother and sister-in-law come to mind as examples of caring, responsible parents for whom that wasn't an option. Their pets are definitely part of the family!

What wonderful children!
And you are right, the credit goes to excellent home training by the parents!
I am always thrilled to see childrens' instinctive love of animals being cultured by the parents! The more animal lovers in this world, the better this world becomes
